How do you go from starting CB in two Super Bowls to the lowest performing CB in the league? Seems like he got a nice paycheck and two rings and is content with dressing out and shitting on the field.

Browner was never that good to begin with. After we signed him, I read an article (don't remember whose) detailing how overrated he is. While I liked the signing, I did so with a little caution based on that article. It appears to have been true.

He needs to be benched for Lewis so that the two rising stars of Breaux and Swann (dude is killing it!) continue to grow and shine

he had never really graded out well, and i think led DBs in penalties last year or the year before.

Basically it seems like he was brought in for some toughness and to help cover TBs 2 monster WRs twice a year. But yea, he really isnt any good.

He was never a #1 corner and it helps to lineup with Revis or Sherman.

He needs help from the Safety on deep routes. Speed was never one of his strengths. Also, who knows if he is playing 100% off of his injury from pre-season.

We always seem to have one db who is the whipping boy. Right now it is Browner and deservedly so. I am surprised Payton let him on the plane Sunday. During the last pre season game Payton was berating Stanley Jean Baptiste on the sidelines, telling him that he was going to have to walk home. The only good news for Stanley was that they waited until they landed in New Orleans to cut him.

It's not like he was placed in a position yesterday to play to his strengths with the amount of zone coverage that was used. He should have shadowed Olsen all game long & been allowed to play press against him every snap. Our defensive strategies were a joke yesterday.

Imo, it's not that he's just coming for the check or that he quit, he's just not a very good fit for this team.

His whole game is based on having a pass rush. If he's on a team that can get the qb, he can jam guys and stop slants where other cbs might give up position and allow the qb to hit a quick target or escape valve. He can be extremely effective if on the right d. The problem is he is a square peg trying to fit in a circular hole on this defense

He's not a #1 CB, just like Patrick Robinson wasn't. He's a #2, a good #2 because he can shut down an opponent's second option by being physical.

He's just not good. He was a bad signing, and I said so when he was signed. NO Saints could do much, much better...

i love how every time we sign a defensive player, which is the only kind of FA we sign, and they come here and suck it's magically the player's fault.

do you REALLY think Byrd suddenly went into the shitter for those first four games last year or just quit on football and is collecting a check this year?

or was it that the dude is a ball hawking safety who needs to be relatively close to the LOS to make plays yet Ryan had him playing single high 30 yards off the line of scrimmage?

do you REALLY think Browner went from a CB who could start for back to back super bowl winning teams for 2 different franchises to the worst CB in the league in one offseason?

or do you think he's a slow, yet big and physical corner who does his best work disrupting routes at the LOS, ruining timing between a WR and the QB and either forcing the QB to look elsewhere or giving the DL time to get to the QB yet Ryan has him playing soft zones and chasing WRs all over the field while the DL gets stonewalled at the LOS.

Rob Ryan sets players up to fail. Vaccaro made a huge impact his rookie year as a jack of all trades, hybrid S/CB who played in the box and wreaked havoc. who's wonderful idea was it to have him get big and turn into a strict SS? Rob Ryan's.

it's the same reason the LB we drafted because he had nearly 40 sacks in a college career drops into coverage 38% of the time. Kikaha has 2 sacks, 2 FF and 9 more QB hurries than the next rookie defender, yet he drops into coverage nearly 40% of the time.

and people are blaming the players because we see the same shite we saw last year. it's fricking despicable.

He's big and not quick enough. Bad move by the Saints. They decided to try to improve their shite defense while allowing their great offense to suffer. Stick to what you're good at. All they needed to do was find some serviceable defensive replacements without breaking the bank and go get a real wr for Drew. They went all in on defensive players who suck and didn't get a wr at all. We just keep banking on what we have in house.

I wonder if Browner can play safety once Lewis returns. You know, since he's supposed to be so physical and all that.
