It wasn't too much later in the game that the same situation occurred and Brees was given the timeout.

They rarely talk about the Saints ne damn way, so what makes you think they are going to question the officiating.

Shouldn't have mattered, how do they miss a delay of game like that?

I'm amazed by the people that always give the refs a free pass but in the same sentence say a team should have played better and it wouldn't have mattered what the refs did.

It's such a bullshite double standard. Why does the team have to play better but the refs get excused? Why can't the refs be required to play better? If you hold a team to such a high standard why don't you hold the refs to a high standard instead of just blowing it off as the team has to overcome the refs mistakes?

The only thing I can figure is that most of the people who do this are refs themselves or have been in the past or related to one.

Have you ever seen the official miss a QB calling timeout?

That's the thing, usually the qb can call a timeout after the clock runs out and they will be awarded the timeout instead of a penalty. Brees clearly called for timeout there.

The Saints were screwed so badly by the refs that I was already pissed at the refs screwing them before a friend of mine reminded me of a bunch of other shady calls I had forgot about.

As for the timeout, someone in another thread said it had to do with Drew signaling straight ahead and not signaling or looking at the ref, thus the reason the ref didn't grant them a timeout

What! That's absurd. The excuses being made for the refs like this one I quoted is much worse than anyone of us complaining about the Saints being screwed. There were blatant horrible calls or no calls that had a huge impact on the game. Suggesting Brees didn't call timeout the right way is insane.

Golic was talking about the hold on Gallette this morning on Mike & Mike. Greenburg was half-heartedly trying to downplay it (indirectly acknowledging it should have been called).

Oh, and why weren't players taking about it? Don't want to be fined for bitching about officiating.

The TO signal was not demonstrative enough...hands were up anyway to take snap. Officials aren't all watching the QB. They should have tried to call TO earlier!

Perhaps the officials were too busy watching the play clock!

I don't think the backjudge is allowed to grant a timeout to the qb.

He was the only official in a position to see Drew's signal, but as was said, it wasn't over his head or to the side but where his hands would be for the snap.

At this point, I have to assume that everyone saying things this stupid are drug addicts who have burned all of their brain cells. There is no other explanation.

We see that exact thing happen multiple times every weekend, yet these idiots are saying there is no ref to call that timeout, and Brees didn't call it right. Just unbelievable how dumb it makes all of you look who are saying this.

The refs made a couple of bad calls yesterday and that sucks. But that shite happens now and again.

But then again, the Saints couldn't get a first and run out the clock with two chances to do so. So it's kind of hard to single out the refs, Greer's miss on the potential deflection or any other thing as a sole reaso we lost. Saints made a great comeback but didn't quite get it done.

And the Saints have NEVER in the 45 or however many years of existence benefitted from calls, right?

We are not talking about the last 45 years - Just the game yesterday, ya know, the one against the Pats.

There was big-time O-line holding on the Saints TD pass into the end zone. These are two second-tier teams being coached-up...Pats all-around and Saints on Defense.

Brees throws a TD on that play and you bet your arse you see a very late flag for delay of game.

Regardless of the bad officiating, this loss is on payton. We should have run the ball on the third down before the field goal so pats would have to use their last time out. they would not have had enough time to do what they did with 45 secs less to start the last drive. At least is was out of division and conference.

So the Saints should have done this and that but the refs don't have to do shite. Got it.

The refs are a part of the game too and they need to be held to the same standard as the teams.

Why is it funny to suggest that the refs should be held accountable for their mistakes just like the players and coaches? The dumb stuff coming from you continues.

No one is saying that the Saints didn't have a chance to put it away. They absolutely did, and they should have sealed the deal when they had the chance.

But you're allowed to think that and acknowledge the horrendous officiating at the same time. It's not like one eliminates the other as a possibility.

- We got fricked by bad calls all day long and still should have finished the game.

- Had we not been fricked by bad calls, then maybe our lack of finishing would not have been exposed in the way that it was.

I don't think it's a tremendous leap in logic to make those statements.

Kiss mom goodbye and look for a job! The Saints lost! They were out coached and couldn't get a first down on two possessions to close out a win! The Saints screwed the pooch and lost...and Safety broke late to help on TD! The Saints lost...grow up!
