Last year both tackles were out at some point in multiple games and those games were shite shows afterward. He'll upgrade us there this year. We'd owe another million to the cap to move Strief this year, prob isnt happening.

You don't use a high pick like 13 for depth.

So they see a future all-pro left tackle sitting on the board when they were sure he'd be gone. Left tackle, arguably the most important player behind QB and they're just supposed to leave him there??

At that point the situation may have changed to "holy Frick a future pro bowler just fell into our laps" and your plan is blown up. Such is the way of the draft.

Eff drafting someone you think can be a serviceable starter if someone you see as a future all-pro still on the board. That would be stupid.

No, but you draft a guy who will eventually be a starter when the guy he's replacing is going to be 32 years old in September.

We might not be. Peat might beat out strief. Strief and lelito can be our backups on the line.

I can't argue w/ the Peat pick. Certainly, OT is not as much a position of need as other positions. I think had Beasley or Fowler been available at #13 (and certainly Fowler was not going to be), they would picked either. They may have expected Beasley to be there at #13. The other "edge rushers" (presumably that is a new position that has been created by draft geeks) -- Dupree, Gregory -- that perhaps merited such a high selection position, had too many question marks. Dupree is not necessarily a "can't miss" prospect, if there is such a thing. The other pass rushers probably didn't warrant in their minds such a high pick. Hopefully they can pick up Harold today, maybe even Hunter.

That's fine if he were a later pick like 2nd or even 3rd rd, but at 13 I was hoping to address an immediate need and the guy be a day 1 starter.

From Payton's presser it sounds like Anthony will be ready to start moreso than Peat. I know it's still very early and a lot can change, but for now it looks like a pick for depth.
