He was never that much of an athlete to begin with, as I recall.

During his college career at Tennessee, Greer participated in track and field as well as football. He broke the 110m hurdles school record that had previously been held by Collin Henderson.

I just don't see a guy worth taking that will fall. Taking the 4th best WR this year would pay off much more to me than the 4th best CB.

Even with Lewis, White, and Prob and potentially Greer? If someone falls that you cant pass up, sure. But its def not a dire need
You have Greer and Robinson coming off very serious injuries. Couple Greer's injury with his age, and Corey White is not very good.

So, yes...there is a dire need.

White got owned by Desean Jackson while Lewis was out, and had one terrible half against Atlanta/Douglas. Other than that, he played well.

I'm not going to be able to find the website from 2 years ago, but I remember that in 2011 PRob allowed an ~80 QB rating being thrown on, which is pretty good. He was a disaster with Spags, but everyone was. If anyone can get the best out of him, it's Ryan. And look at what we did after Greer went out. We didn't really have a dropoff in pass defense and only struggled against the first game in Seattle, when Wilson was amazing. I have no problem with drafting a CB/S early, but I don't think it's some dire need like others are saying. shite, we shut down Philly and Seattle without Greer AND Vaccaro. Don't forget that Vaccaro plays a lot of nickel CB.

Bush showed me he can be a viable starter, although I do feel like we need at least one ball hawking guy in the secondary.

White also gave up the winning TD to Dominick Hixon against the Panthers where he was nowhere near to make a play.

You cannot discount injuries. Not everyone is Adrian Peterson. In fact, only Adrian Peterson can come back like he has. Patrick Robinson was not that great before or during his time with Spagnuolo. Then, he gets seriously injured...to his leg, right? Same for Greer...if you lose even a half step at CB in the NFL, you're already behind the 8-ball.

Not to mention it will be unlikely that Roman Harper or Malcolm Jenkins both return. I imagine Harper doesn't return, so who plays Harper's safety role?

I guess I see it this way...we have the depth on paper. But two of those guys are coming back from serious injury and it wouldn't be a mistake to plan for the future by drafting a valuable CB. Not to mention solid CB play is the DL's best friend.

31 isn't old in our world. In the NFL world, 31 is definitely on the wrong side of young.

I don't know if Loomis even knows if they will be back. There is a lot of organizational thought that has to go into it.

Is Jenkins a guy you want to be a cornerstone player in your defense with a new contract? If you do, at what price is it better to consider someone new? I tend to think he is more likely back than gone.

Harper likely gone except for this- He's gonna cost $3.7mil to cut. You could give him a new deal paying the same $3.7mil but keep him. His role is a backup and situational player now.
