Saints blew it by not fighting the commish in court

The players did and won, just like this situation. Not much the Saints could have done

I wonder if the Saints could file a lawsuit and try to get back damages. Draft picks and money from the NFL. A guy's gotta to dream.

Fine by me actually. Goodall looks like a completely incompetent idiot once again.

yeah, to hell with that a-hole.

It would have been cool to see his reaction in person when Fujita asked him, " what the hell are you doing Roger?"

cause you know Fujita wasn't messing around. I'll bet Goodell couldn't look him in the face.

I would venture to say that Goodell and the other owners pulled Benson aside and said "you're gonna take one for the league because of the pending class action suit"..."if you don't, it could be bad for all of us and you might lose some influential friends-someone has to be the scapegoat and the Saints are it"..."think of what we did for the city after Katrina, now its time to pay up".

I can see how Benson might cave at that point.

Not to mention, i just don't think New Orleans has the pull that a Boston/Patriots/Bob Kraft team does.

It is sad that Coach lost 7 million in pay and 1 year of play, lost 2 draft picks, two other coaches suspended, a couple of players never got to play again. At least Vilma fought it.

Players have the CBA and the Players Association, rules are written in a way that give the players the ability to have it heard by a court and win.

Non-player personnel do NOT have this option in their agreements. NFL teams/owners do Not have this option. Technically, anybody can sue for anything...doesn't mean you can win a case even if you are right...all depends on what you agreed to.

Saints players all had their suspensions over-turned. Media did Not make a big deal about it because coaches and GM were still suspended. They did Not fight it because they do NOT have the same protection as the players.

The only thing they and Benson could have done was speak out against and make a lot of noise. Why they chose not to, I do Not know...probably to avoid the risk of further retaliation by Goodell.

Players did fight it and won because the NFL has no evidence.

Benson, Payton, Loomis, etc have access to really good lawyers, so they would have fought it if could have been ruled on by a judge...because the NFL had NO evidence. Obviously it was determined that this was Not the case for them!

So how long are people going to keep saying they wish the Saints would have fought it more?
