I think that our kicker problems have to do with confidence. This fan base, and as a result, the coaching staff, turn on a kicker the second he misses. Always. Every kicker we've brought in has been like this - they can be a hero (see: Shayne Graham @ Philly 2013....) and then once they miss a few, "JUST CUT THEM IM SICK OF THIS!!!" .... Guys, no kicker is 100%. Sorry.

that's the whole league...

but why draft a kicker when so many are available for cheap?

We've been a revolving door of kickers since Hartley. It'd be nice to feel confident in a kicker outside the 30 for once in the last 5 years.

And they can certainly be a weapon.

Punters are even cheaper and we did OK with Morstead.

Drafting Aguayo alone probably gives us an additional 2 wins a year. I'd give a 5th in a heart beat.

Exactly.

I also have no confidence in their scouting evaluations for college kickers or vet kickers. Payton has had 10 regular season kickers in 10 years.

DRAFT: The Saints wasted a draft pick on Taylor Melhaff who lost his spot to arguably Payton's most stable kicker, Garrett Hartley, who needed John Carney just months after Hartley set a SB record.

TRADE: Traded for Olindo Mare & had his worst year as a pro.

Free Agency: The Saints wrongly chose FA Hocker over FA Hopkins, then rightfully, cut Hocker, too.

With all the needs on this team, do not waste a pick on a crapshoot position overseen by crapshoot scouts.

I remember the game we lost 2 years ago to the Seahawks and thinking the biggest difference was the kickers.

I seriously doubt the difference between Gostkowski and the 32nd ranked kicker is minimal.

You could have knocked me over with a feather posting this...Hartley did that? Damn!
