Saints - Browns

Total Yards:
208 - 114

Time Of Possession:
16:10 - 13:47

Rushing:
106 - 47

First Downs
11 - 9

The Saints are actually doing a good bit better than the Browns. It's been the Penalties, the Pick 6, and the refusal to run the ball that have killed the Saints the first half.

Essentially the Saints have spotted the Browns a 6 point lead, now we just have to go out and beat them down the next 30 minutes.

Oh and I forgot we had 1st and 5 inside the 10 yardline where Payton had a brain fart and tried throwing the ball twice when the Running game was doing so well.

Doesn't at all.

D is playing well outside of 1 frickstick.

We're dominating them on the ground and have an extra 2 offensive possessions due to a pick 6 and the last drive

Not surprising at all.

Short fields on Cleveland's first 3 drives.

A Pick 6 for 6 points.

What's so surprising?

The lack of dedication to the run is the most baffling thing I've seen in the Saints in a while.

I almost feel like every time Ingram runs for 6 yards, Payton gets livid, as if Ingram is insulting Payton and Brees by outdoing them.
It's almost like Payton HAS to prove that throwing it is even better than running.

No shite, over 200 yards in one half. That's very good.

Well he did it with Khiry as well. He reeled off two or more good runs in a row and then got shut down for the Passing game.

That wasn't really my point.

It doesn't matter who is running.
Payton acts like they're showing him up.

Seems about right. Took the Saints -4 in the 2nd Half. I'm pretty confident we win this game. It just feels like one of those that we aren't going to lose. Too many self-inflicted, but very correctable mistakes so far.

I'm surprised we have 106 yards rushing and 102 yards passing.

That's the most balanced I've ever seen the Saints statistically.

Oh no, I was just saying it's definitely more than Ingram(since he's got so many haters on this board) it's the Running Game period.

Payton is in his own head. I just hope that he doesn't get pass happy 2nd half since we gained yards against a soft prevent defense at the end of the half, a la Atlanta against us last week.

I think that's more evidence that the running game is much more effective, not that there's balance.

Not to rub it in, but PRob's penalties cost a FG and let them get a TD instead of a FG. That's 7 points.

Out playing the Browns but errors/mistakes are killing us.

Especially when you take out the fact that almost all of those passing yards came in the two-minute drill against a soft, cautious defense. They will have all the success they want if they keep running the ball until the Browns over-commit to stop them.
