Know that we just paid out the arse for a db that hasn't proven anything outside of playing for a guy who Plug and plays defensive players very well.

I'll laugh at how dumb our front office is...

I don't even want Butler at this point. For years ST moans about wanting to trade back or stay put to acquire more picks. Now that we finally have more picks everyone wants to return them?

This is a deep draft. Use the picks.

Agreed!
However, I do think we come out looking good if they were to take a 2nd or some combo including a third and later pick. not sure you'll find a DB as good as Butler can be next season in later rounds.

frick the picks. Dumb as frick. Take the sure thing, top 15 CB. Idiots!

This team is win-now. Get on board.

It's a mutually assured destruction situation. All we'd have to do is move the 1.11, and they'd be forced to take 1.32 or match the offer. Due to the crazy stuff involved with the 4th round picks and attachment to Deflategate for the Pats... it's likely already worked out.

If not... let the trade machine gears turn! Teams needing a QB could look at 1.11 with big eyes. Would you take Sheldon Richardson, Bryce Petty, + 2017 2nd (39 overall) from the Jets for 1.11? Forcing New England to take the 1.32 or match, rather than give up 1.11 for Butler.

is Butler, Richardson, Petty, and 39... better than Butler and 32?
(maybe)
Gonna be a fun few days. Probably already a done deal.

Nothing about signing a corner who has played with only one team (a team which has a great defensive scheme) is a sure thing.
Teams build through the draft, which is part of the reason we've been bad recently

It's too late to build through the draft. Scheme isn't making this guy the great CB he's been for three years. Lol.

When Brees is gone, we ain't winning shite for a long, long time. frick building through the draft. We can start that process in a few years when Brees is gone.

For now, we do what we have to do with the best chance we will have for quite a while.

Right, remember how awesome Revis was in Tampa? Or how great browner was for us?

Browner has never been the player Butler is. Not even in his good years. Revis was a great CB.

Why sign any players? Let's just get the right scheme!

lol I'm not sure what you're trying to say. This isn't madden, you can't just pick up people and make it work. Teams that win Super Bowls develop talent, that's how it works, that's how we did it in 09 from the 06 draft. I'm done, you're making me start to argue against butler, and I'm not opposed to trading for him.

It'll either be:

2nd round pick

Making this total deal:

Cooks + 2nd + 4th

for

Butler + 32 + 3rd

or they get back #32

Cooks + 4th

for

Butler + 3rd

I said a few days ago I feel like the second option was the plan all along. I'm fine with either of these deals.

Honestly I'd be ok with either at this point,
Really hope we can work a deal where we keep the 32nd
