More free agent news: DT Nick Fairley was spotted in New Orleans, heading to a visit with the #Saints.

Don't know how I feel about him coming here. We need a good DT badly, but I don't believe he is the answer there.

We are drafting the good DT...at this point we just need solid depth and Fairley is that while also not being 35. Sign him up.

Yep. The trio of Fairley, Jenkins, & Davison should be able to hold down one of the DT spots next to the rookie that we draft in the 1st or 2nd round.
If the recent news on Lawson is true...it's all Rankins for me at #12. Still not sold on Darron Lee yet. I don't want to take Treadwell, but in some scenarios it's either Treadwell, reach for a DT, or reach for Dodd.

Hope he's cheap and its a 2 year deal. Get him!

I'm ok with Fairley at the right price. With our lack of DL talent he'd a likely starter. At worst he gives us depth, plus a little more flexibility with the draft.

So many good options available in so many different rounds.
Sheldon Rankins(1st), Austin Johnson(2nd), Chris Jones(2nd-3rd) at DT paired with Fairley, Jenkins, Davison
alongside a Shaq Lawson(1st), Kevin Dodd(1st-2nd), Emmanuel Ogbah(1st-2nd) at DE paired with Cam Jordan, Bobby Richardson, Kikaha and Edebali as situational rushers possibly.
our DL will be re-infused with real NFL talent and depth. We will still be looking for the next UDFA gems as well...the next Tyrunn Walker, Glenn Foster, Junior Galette.
The selling point of saying you started more rookies last year than the rest of the NFL, along with our track record of UDFA finds/playing time will bode well for us in recruiting those types of players to NOLA.
Bill Johnson will be out of excuses next season.

I'd rather him be out of a job. Maybe the unthinkable happens though and he actually fields a productive unit.

I hope we draft Jarran Reed, not Rankins.

I'm Fairley certain we'll get this deal done.

I can't say I know much about Fairley's performance in the NFL, but PFF loved him.

The JL signing is worth it if it gets us Fairley

We're definitely running low on room and there's only one massive move left for us to do to clear room (brees).
Other options:
1. Extend Unger, current cap hit of 6.2mil, could realistically save 3mil
2. Cut Morstead, current cap hit of 4.45mil, cut saves 3.25mil
That creates 6mil which is enough for us to sign our draft picks. Other than that, I'm not finding much money anywhere else to sign Fairley unless its vet minimum or a two year deal and its pretty much lopsided for year 2 (not smart obviously).
That extension needs to be done. I think Flacco got 3/66mil, 40mil signing bonus and Brady got 2/41mil 28mil signing bonus. It will land closer to Flacco than Brady.

Unger extension is needed big time
