re: Exoneration of Belichick suggests Payton shouldn’t have been punished, either.

my theory looking back: Payton and Loomis both knew about the bounty program. 3G spilled the beans on both of them. That's why he's back in the game today. He went state's evidence. No birds are chirping on Darth Maul

It still bothers me how bad the Saints got railroaded. Losing a coach for the entire year was absolutely insane. The draft picks were huge too and we should have at least gotten back one of those 2nds. frick Goofell.

It should bother you, it was fricked up what the league did. It should make you even more mad that Benson wasn't willing to scorch the earth over it.

The host even tried to get Jim to walk that back by bashing the saints.

What tool bag was this? How can anyone defend what happened to the Saints at this point?

Agreed. I understood Payton keeping down because he wanted to come back to coaching, but Benson should have screamed from the roof tops. I wish more owners would have too. Your boy Kraft was patting the Fuhrer on the back for punishing the Saints though and that's why you don't see any love for the Patriots from me.

Yeah but wasn't part of the issue is that Payton ignored the first request to end it and stop it and he didn't?

Because they weren't warned at all. Vitt testimony to Paul Tagliabue address all these uncertainties but many people never bothered to read Vitt's statements. He said league security officials showed up at the Saints facilities to do a normal look around which they do yearly to every organization & the before leaving they asked if the Saints were running a bounty program. That was in 2010. They were told no & the officials went on their way.

It was that buttburt piece of shite that ran to league officials after getting fired that started the whole drama along with that douchebag coach from the Vikings who was doing everything to save his job, Brad Childress. Cerullo had actually contacted Childress first & both went the league offices like whiny little bitches.

What really turned the knob up was when Tom Benson had a league official thrown off his private plane in New York after the official was combative & confrontional when reveling what Cerullo & Childress had come to them with.

This broadcast was immediately following the handing down of suspensions for "Bounty Farce". But if my memory serves me it was Andrew Siciliano.

Goodell has to be either incompetent or just outright stupid

Bingo. The Saints haven't tackled anyone in 10 years. The bounty produced no booty.

The good news is that based on how we draft.... Those picks would have been busts or scrubs anyway.
