Eagles LG Evan Mathis' agent Drew Rosenhaus said the Dolphins are not a "strong possibility" for the disgruntled guard.

Analysis: "IÂ’ve been given permission by the Eagles to shop Evans," Rosenhaus said in a radio interview. "We thought we had a trade with another team leading up to the Draft. It was not the Dolphins." Coach Chip Kelly has said Mathis has been available to trade for two offseasons, but to this point Rosenhaus has yet to find a partner. Mathis is not happy, but he will likely remain an Eagle for at least one more season.

Why not trade a conditional future pick for him? He would be an upgrade over Lelito

Pretty bad, maybe if we can get him to restructure.

He seems to be a very reliable player according to pff

59. Evan Mathis, LG, Philadelphia Eagles (7th)

Injury looked set to rob Mathis of his streak appearing in this list, but by returning in Week 10 he compiled enough snaps (608) and was so dominant (second-highest grade of all guards) that he cracks it again. Mathis again starred with his run blocking which remains as good as any in the league, earning positive grades in each of the games he appeared in.

Best Performance: Week 13, PHI @ DAL, +5.6

Key Stat: Graded positively in every game he completed.

They have been trying to trade him for awhile. The downside is he is 33. But he is talked about like he is one of the best guards in the game and he would really help our line.

He probably wants a higher salary or something.

Yeah. He wants more money, but he's a top tier guard and very consistent.

Don't see us doing this, but that'd really calm any nerves I have about our kine. In fact the run blocking would be pretty insane.

Someone read my mind with this thread. I literally just saw this on Rotoworld and came directly here.

I wish we could make moves to get him. Would be a great pick up. I wonder if the Saints were the pre draft team in discussion to make a deal with the Eagles?!.

Stopped wanting right there. I promise you the reason Chip doesn't want him is he doesn't want to deal with Rosenhaus' bullshite. He represents Shady too.

IIRC Chip put him on the trade block before the draft. Also Eagles aren't crazy about his contract. He's continuing his high level of play, but he's getting older so it could drop out of nowhere.

I'd like to bring him in, but you never know when his decline will start.

Conditional pick and Brees takes a pay cut to get him, sure why not

You only care because he went to Alabama (see sig quote).

Go back to the Bama Rant.

He's a really good player, but his contract and age make him almost impossible unless a new deal is placed. He's old. Old doesn't last too long at a high level in the NFL (spare the exceptions)

If we were able to work out something where his salary would be reduced, then fine. But it appears he is looking for more money, so that won't happen. I've said it in other threads, but it's time to see what Lelito has to offer. It's his third year here, he should know the system by now, and he's moving back to his college position.

Agreed, he's a solid player, especially given his age. But he's gotta be up there. I used to have class with him at Bama in the 2003 timeframe.

Would I like to have Evan Mathis? Sure. But not at his current contract. So I don't see it happening. Also, I want to see what Lelito can bring to the table and I'm not sold on the notion that we won't eventually move one of the tackles inside to guard.
