Didn't get to watch the draft last night(family obligations) and was surprised to see we took a safety in the 2nd. Was the value too much to pass up considering we have Bell and Vacarro? Really thought we would go 100% edge with that pick.

Are Analzone and Hendrickson considered edge rushers?

The Saints will play three safeties (Big Nickel) on roughly half of the snaps.

Vaccaro is a guy who is best in the box. Bell is versatile but not a true centerfielder type. Williams is what they hoped Byrd would be.

They may carry six safeties on the 53 man roster.

Vacarro is a SS/NB

Williams is a pure FS who plays over the top and has great ball instincts and makes plays

i think Bell is just not close to being ready and may be a bust pick. i don't think we can go into next year hoping he magically becomes our starting FS. Williams seems ready-made for that position

Analzone = WLB guy. think a less violent and instinctive ruben foster who gets injured a lot. seek-and-destroy guy who can also cover

Hendrickson is a potential edge rusher

Bell had zero missed tackles against the run last year hoss.

Vaccaro's best year came when he played in the box in front of Malcolm Jenkins and Roman Harper. Now he can move back into that role, in front of 2 young guys.

Williams (6’1/202) made 30 starts in three years at Utah before turning pro, amassing 11 interceptions and four forced fumbles while working primarily as a center-field, single-high free safety.

PFF College also charted Williams with the highest run-stop percentage among all Division-1 safeties in 2016, and the No. 2 tackle efficiency rating.

Williams proceeded to blow up the Combine with 93rd-percentile SPARQ results, including an outrageous 43 ½-inch vertical.

He also aced the Wonderlic (34) and is young for a rookie, not turning 21 until September.

We’re not sure why Williams didn’t generate more pre-draft buzz. He checks boxes across the board as a high-ceiling safety prospect and should be considered the favorite to start over Vonn Bell across from Kenny Vaccaro in year one.

Kenny V. will be gone after next year. That is why we went Safety in round 2.

Young, Smart & athletic......avgs 1 turnover every other game...

Sound like an asset to a bad defensive backfield......
