I think this guy would be hugh for the Saints, we haven't had a guy in the middle that could push the pocket back in ages. He would be great at 13.

Hicks is in the last year of his deal. But we would probably have to use our first pick if we wanted to get this guy.

not really sure how I'd feel about that.

I think last year could have just been a case where Hicks just went through some growing pains. At least I hope so. He would have some moments where he looked dominant only to disappear for awhile after that.

I think in a year where he will be playing for a new deal, he'll bring it more often.

We do need some depth on the D-line though with Walker going to the Lions. I like Carl Davis from Iowa but he'll probably be gone even by the time we pick in the 2nd round.

I all on board with picking a DT at 13, but only if his last name is Shelton.

The Saints never do what we expect with their first pick. I have been stewing on this for a while and I think they will surprise us and take a guy like Brown.

our aaron rodgers lookalike saints espn reporter just drafted malcom brown at 31 and mcshay and polian shite all over the pick as his fit in our scheme is not that great. Shoulda took Eddie Goldman who went next to patriots.

Brown is a protypical 4-3 DT. He's not a two gap guy. Say what you want but brown will go to a 4-3 team, watch.

They did say that brown should be long gone before saints 31 pick too.

Glad you can repeat what Polian said.

IMO Brown is scheme versatile. I think he can play a 0/1 Tech just fine, especially if he adds maybe 10 pounds of solid weight. He's by far the best pass rushing DT in this draft too. Is he better suited as a 3/5 Tech, probably, but he can do both well and that'll come in handy when we use 4-man fronts.

I'm not saying that he won't get taken by a team that has a 4-man base. But I could also see him being taken by a team that runs a 3-man front too. He'd be an absolute steal at 31.

i've argued before with blues i think that i didn't think malcom was a good scheme fit for us. But if i'm on other side of fence as you, i'm comfortable with my position.

BOTTOM LINE:  Malcom Brown presents with very good overall Draft value because of his scheme-diverse fit.  He can line up at NT in a 34 or DT in a 43.  I think he has enough quickness to be a 3-tech, although his best fit is as the space-eater.

Brown can play multiple spots along the line in a 4-3 or 3-4 defense, which could put him in play for a high number of teams.

Brown's size, strength and agility will intrigue clubs operating out of a base 4-3 or 3-4 alignment, alike.

I felt this way before reading all these reports, but a quick Google search would indicate I'm not alone in my sentiments.

Question. When was the last time the Saints played a true 3-4 base? I mean, they talk about it, but the EDGE (I hate this term), Galette, plays in a 4-point stance. They play a 4 man front with Hicks in the 3-tech. Brown would be a good fit.

Polian also took a gigantic dump on ya boy Randy Gregory. He said the same things I have said that Gregory is too thin & will have problems adding weight on his frame along with the off the field problems. He said he shouldn't be taken in the 1st round.
