I think he means passing numbers wise. Brees does have a chance of that happening.

I mean it's a player vote thing. You can have pretty ridiculous skewing on the overall rankings.

It is also suppose to be a projection of how they think do next year. It has nothing to do with what he did the year before.

Because the Honey Badger (when healthy) is really, really, really good? He's basically a CB version of Earl Thomas/Ed Reed.

He needs 11k to do. You'd bet against that

No I wouldn't. I hope Drew breaks the record. I misread his post. My mistake

Honestly F that show, I stopped watching it because it just doesn't make sense sometimes. Maybe I'm biased, but when Brees set the passing record he came in at #2 just like for the NFL MVP vote, if I'm not mistaken. That always left a bad taste in my mouth and gave me an unfounded hatred for Rodgers (damn good QB no slight intended)

For anyone who thinks he should be lower than No. 5, here are his AVERAGE numbers per season since joining the Saints in 2006 (10 seasons):

424/628 for 4,856; Cmp Pct 67.5%; TD - 35; INT - 15; Passer rating: 99.2

For those who believe he's not quite what he once was, he was right on average last year in pretty much every category, missed a game and dealt with an injury in his throwing arm for some games. And yet again had a shite defense to work with.

To further illustrate how ludicrous putting Drew at No. 30 is, here are a couple of other measures:

First, let's look at how Drew's average game as a Saint compares to the average game with their current teams of the unanimous choices as the two best QBs in the league (with Manning gone), Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. Rodgers has been starting since 2008, so he has 8 seasons under his belt. Brady since 2001, so he has 14 seasons under his belt (he missed a year with injury):

Rodgers: 22/34 65% 270 yards 2.2 TDs 0.5 INTs 104.1
Brady: 22/35 64% 260 yards 1.9 TDs 0.7 INTs 96.4
Brees: 27/39 67% 304 yards 2.2 TDs 0.9 INTs 99.2

The first thing that stands out is how incredibly similar these stat lines are. The biggest outlier is how great Rodgers is in avoiding picks.

Also, to show how little help Drew gets from the rest of his team, here are the final Saints rankings per year during his tenure in total offense, rushing offense and total defense, in order from 2006-15:

Total O - 1, 4, 1, 1, 6, 1, 2, 4, 1, 2
Rush O - 19, 28, 28, 6, 28, 6, 25, 25, 13, 24
Total D - 11, 26, 23, 25, 4, 24, 32, 4, 31, 31

He's had to deal with a lot of mediocre offensive lines (at best), especially in the last 5 years, he had one season without a coach and for half that season, he didn't even have an offensive coordinator. And how many superstars did he have to work with on offense? Reggie Bush never turned into that. Jimmy Graham and Darren Sproles? Our running backs have been mediocre at best, with Pierre Thomas being by far the best, most productive back in his tenure.

There is a very good argument to be made that Brees has been THE best QB in the league consistently over the last 10 years. Very good argument. I would say only Aaron Rodgers has as strong an argument as Brees.

Based on the list so far, they have Brees sandwiched between, sit down for this, Andy Dalton and Ben Roethlisberger as far as QBs, with Dalton at 35 and Ben at 21. I'm assuming they will have QBs like Russell Wilson and SCam Newton ahead of him as well. None of these guys have the right to carry Drew's jock for him. Seriously. None of them come close to Drew's level of play and leadership for the last 10 years with the Saints. Ben is probably right at around 20, but Drew should be no less than 5. And I honestly think that's too low.
