Sando still has Drew #2 in the MVP race, which is crazy to beleive when your read the stats below. I am not taking anything away from Rodgers, but if Drew's season is MVP worthy on many levels.

quote:

Marino averaged 9.0 yards per attempt during his historic season. Brees checks in at 8.2 YPA this season. His completion percentage (70.7) would set an NFL single-season record. From ESPN Stats & Information: "Brees has thrown a passing TD in 42 straight games, five shy of tying Johnny Unitas' NFL record set from 1956-60. Brees also has a streak of 35 straight games with at least 20 completions, an NFL record, and is moving up the leaderboard in a variety of other categories." Those would include most 300-yard passing games in a season (12), most consecutive 300-yard games (six) and most consecutive games with at least 35 pass attempts (19).

Drew gets my vote.

Brees had a better year than Manning whenever they awarded it to Manning, so that logic is bullshite (although it's being used an excuse by the talking heads aplenty this season).

It's about the big market player vs. the small market player. Who's the cool person to give the vote to... etc...

You forgot to add coming off the red carpet season of winning the super bowl as well.

That's ludicrous.

Absolutely true when Manning won it in 2009. This year, although true, it's not as blatant. Rodgers is having one hell of a season and although Brees is too, it's not like there's a huge difference between the two. Apparently the TD-INT ratio and wins in Rodgers favor are tilting the scale. If it weren't for Rodgers they'd be having the same conversation with Brees the clear favorite and people trying to make a case for Brady.

Hehe, yeah Green Bay itself is pretty small, but the Packers have a HUGE fan base nation wide.

Indie is bigger than both, and they have (had?) Peyton Manning, so that gets them a few hundred thousand fans by default from other areas.

Saints are a more beloved and watched team than any team in the league the past 3 years. That theory is garbage in my book.

The whole "small market vs big market" thing absolutely has nothing to do with who wins the MVP. I've found that the people that make this argument are the same crowd that actually believes ESPN hates LSU or the Saints. As if there is some nebulous, massive conspiracy at ESPN where all the Board of Trustees gather in a boardroom to discuss how they can stick it to the state of Louisiana.

I would disagree. Drew Brees has the yardage record (Marino's) and a good chance at breaking his own comp % record. Rodgers has a couple more TD passes and a few less INT's.

Aaron's YPA completely obliterates Drew out the water. Do you not think he would not have just as many if not more yards if he threw the ball 120 more times this year? And the difference of 13 int's to 6int's as well as 45 TD's is pretty drastic and 45/6 at this point is pretty fricking phenomenal.

bullshite. It's not a conspiracy, it's just good business. Turn on ESPN and you can't go 5 fricking minutes without hearing the words "Tony Romo" or "Tim Tebow"

Wonder why? Because millions of people can't get enough Cowboys/Tebow, and it generates advertisement revenue. Period. The Cowboys and Tim Tebow are "big markets", there is a lot of money to be made by talking about them.

If Tony Romo played for the Jaguars, no one would give two flips about his slightly-better-than-average arse.

It has nothing to do with "hating" Louisiana....as Puff Daddy said: "It's all about the Benjamins Baby!"

Brees didn't throw a few more interceptions, he threw more than double the interceptions Rodgers did. Rodgers has thrown more touchdowns than Brees. His team has a better record. His passer rating is more ten points higher than his nearest competitor.

Rodgers threw for less yards, but that might be because GB had way more takeaways and was usually winning pretty substantially. Also, an outdoor, northern QB will generally throw for less yards than an indoor QB.

I didn't say it wasn't close or that I didn't think Brees hasn't had an unbelieveable year or that I don't want him to win it, but Rodgers had a better year.

Absolutely! Most popular Jersey sales in the NFL and apparently he's a best selling "religious author"

It aint Denver people are talking about, it's Tebow.

Do you think that the NFL makes substantially more money by having Rodgers win the MVP over Brees?

Do you not think he may have more int's as well.
Green Bay has 8 rushing TD's (Not counting rodgers) compared to our 14. GB cannot hand it off and score, so they throw more in the redzone.

You can use the same INT % ratio and maybe add 1 or 2 INT's to his total but then coincidingly add the same ratio of TD's to his total as well.
