I'll admit. I'm a homer. It'll probably be a long time, if ever, before I have as much admiration for a football player as I do Drew. The image of him hoisting the Lombardi is one that will forever be burned into my memory.

Watching Odell pretty much beat the Fins on his own got me thinking about the one handed catch video with him and Drew last year. Could you imagine? Eli is an average QB that's had some pretty great receivers and now has one that's had one of the best starts to a career in the last 50 years. Odell is the kind of guy that can make bad throws look easy to catch. Lost of the insane TD catch he had last season was just how shitty of a pass that was.

P.Manning had prime Marvin Harrison, then prime Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, and even solid guys like Garçon. In Denver he's had Demarius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders.

Tom Brady has had a record setting Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Edelman, Amendola, Gronk.

Drew Brees has had one of the most prolific careers in NFL history throwing to guys like Colston, Henderson, Moore, Morgan. How many of those guys would've started on a handful of other teams? Colston? And you look at the results when guys leave. Meachem got paid by and did nothing in San Deigo. Moore was a bust in Pitt. Hell, given the way Jimmy has disappeared in Sea, it makes you wonder just how good some of these guys were vs just how good Drew is.

For all the weapons we've had on offense, Drew has never had an all time great receiver to throw to. Could you imagine Drew with a guy in his prime like Calvin Johnson, or Larry Fitzgerald, or Odell Beckham?

I know over the pay few season there have been some here who love to shite on Drew (cough ..cough.. Breesus cough..) And seriously Drew has deserved his fair share of criticism. But I still today would take Drew over just about every guy in the league. Give me an O Line that can protect Drew, and I'll happily watch him throw for 5000 yds again.

To #9.

Colston would start, in his prime, on any team in the NFL. Henderson's skill set would be coveted by many as the deep threat

I do agree that he'd be sick with a calvin, julion, ODB, miss, etc

He's never, ever had an elite offensive weapon that could take the game off his shoulders. Despite that he's still put up best in history numbers. Everyone knows this season isn't what we expected, but Brees is "quietly" still having a fantastic year.

Hes never had an elite weapon because we draft like shite, hell just think of him with Landry right now and that was totally achievable.

You seriously believe this don't you? I am sure it has nothing to do with Seattle being more run oriented.

Based on your arguments, you can also make an argument that Brees and all the receivers were great because of the system and you could plug and play almost anyone and it would be almost as valid.

I mean they've been throwing around 30x/game.

Hell, Wilson has had 4 straight games with a passer rating over 135

And Brees throws it 41 times in a game where they are trying to play a little ball control. Thanks for making my point Seattle is more of a running offense.

ETA: Drew has already thrown 113 more passes than Russell Wilson.

Throwing 30x a game is plenty attempts for a player to not disappear... So no, I didn't make your point

And 11 less pass attempts per game does not make a team more run orientated.

I forgot you were the guy who could watch Brees throw 4 pick 6s and 1 TD and claim he had an awesome game. Nevermind.

ETA: And that's 11 less when the Saints are actually trying to control the clock.

Where did I say that they weren't more run oriented? That isn't a good reason for someone to disappear

link it bitch.

But yes, I do think our Hall of Fame QB who will finish in the top 5 in almost every category is a great player. fricking CRAZY

You're that idiot who thinks our problems are caused by true, don't you?

Yep:

quote:

It's been on him for a season plus 5 games. I can think of at least 8 games now the saints lost because of a pick 6, soul crushing interception, or multiple turnover game by Brees.

3 frecan turnovers that were directly attributable to Brees.

If this game can't make Brees apologist see he's washed up there isn't a game that will.

You're an idiot

I guess it wasn't nevermind. Thanks for the real estate

They need to get him a star man, It's a travesty it's this late in his career and they haven't drafted him a player that can carry him the other way around.

I hope we draft Treadwell, Cooks is a #2

He's not the player he once was. I think there was one game this season where Brees did not play where the QB in his stead had similar stats you cite to that make him still great.

If I cared enough I would actually separate Brees' stats when a game was still in doubt and when a game was over. I bet a large portion of yards and completions came in "junk time." Then again, Brees' apologist will never admit it when a game was no longer in doubt because Brees can throw 4 TD passes in 45 seconds.

It's cute you cared enough to find an old post from me, sounds like you had to go back to last season or early this season for that one.

Obvious hyperbole. I do not think Brees ever threw 4 pick 6s in one game but you are in extreme denial if you missed all the pick 6s, soul crushing interceptions, and fumbles by Bress over the past 2+ seasons.

You will likely get your wish though because Saints management is incompetent - a Brees extension, still a roster crushing cap number, consecutive years of Top 10 picks (if not top 5), and in a couple years to 3 years an even bigger dead money number attributable to Brees (than $10 million for next year).
