Dolphins "covet" Gurly

If Gurly is there by our pick, this could make us a prime trade spot. Teams such as San Diego who probably want Gurly know that they will have to trade in front of Miami to get him. Miami could also trade with us to ensure they land him.
This of course relying on us not trading up.

Maybe we can get that Kenny stills guy in a trade with the Dolphins to help our wr's. I hear he's pretty good.

I've heard the same about Atlanta really liking him. Though, if Miami does truly covet him and he's available at 13, by all means, move on down.

Good. Keep the defensive players falling.

Trade Stills to Dolphins for Ellerbe and 3rd rounder
Trade our 13th for Miami's 14th + Stills
Profit

It was all a scare tactic to get Stills head on straight

If it works, Loomis just Loomised the entire league

Why would Miami trade up if they know the Saints aren't taking a RB? Sound kinda dumb but interesting.

I will give you some free advice: don't say something that someone else says is "dumb" when you are displaying dumbness with your own words. You look a fool with this stupid statement of yours.
Since you clearly don't get it, I will attempt to explain. Pay attention, I speak fast. If other teams behind Miami also covet the same player (in this case Gurly), then they may attempt to trade up ahead of them to grab this player. The fact that the Saints will not take Gurly makes them a prime trading partner. Now here's the part that explains where you are dumb: If Miami wants this player and knows other teams are potentially trading up ahead of them to get them, they will attempt to trade with us, even if it's only one spot (GASP!) to ensure they get this player and not one of the other teams behind them.
It happens all the time
ETA: I just reread your posting, and it seems that you may have been calling this type of move "dumb" rather than my making of the suggestion. If this is the case then you can disregard the snideness in my post. If it isn't, then it all still applies

Because the Saints could trade with someone who is taking a RB.

Miami wouldn't give up very much to just move up one spot compared to what teams in the upper teens and 20s would give it. (They would have to match or better the offer from 17 to 13) It just doesn't make sense from Miami's perspective. Especially when RBs aren't as valuable in the 1st round anymore that's not even questioning Gurley's health. Ex. Jeremy Hill
In order to trade up from 14 to 13 they would have to pay the same or more than what someone drafting late in the draft is paying. Not worth it if you're the Dolphins. That's why it's kind of a dumb move.

whatever they give is lagniappe since we have no interest in Gurley.

IF you tell them so and so is giving me a second to get ahead of you for Gurly then maybe they offer a third for you to move down one spot and select the player you were going to anyways.
Dolphins get someone they covet without giving too much. We only move down one spot and pickup a third. Win win for everyone.

Why wouldn't you just take the 2nd from the team that's moving on down? Aren't you suppose to get the most for you pick. The Dolphins have an idea of who wants Gurley and who doesn't.
Either way, #13 for a RB is way to high in the first place. The RB position is so devalued now that unless he's a can't miss stud, you can wait in the draft and get the same production from a 2nd and 3rd round pick. For example, Lamar Miller and Al Morris were the best RBs in the 2012 draft and they were 4th and 6th round picks. Le'veon Bell in 2013

Yes, but the Saints may want to stay close, so take less for 14, than taking more to move out to the mid twenties or something. Its a game you have to play. And if the Dolphins want Gurley at 14, then maybe the Saints can swing something out of the deal.
Most of this talk is just smokescreen stuff. No team is leaking their wants/plans to the media.

Gurley will end up being a top 10 pick

Because maybe you don't want to drop very far. Let's say Beasley is on the board and they want him but they can get him and a third by simply moving down one.
