Yes, I do.
And I've followed the Saints since the Archie years.
Just Because things have been much worse should mean that we should have to accept mediocrity. Especially from a team that should be producing well above average. And don't kid yourselves, mediocrity is what we've been getting since SP returned from the year long suspension. He's not the same coach that lead this team to the SB, he looks like a coach that's content to keep his job.
But the problem is not just SP, Drew Brees is becoming a liability, and he can no longer be counted on to win games for the Saints. If you don't see that you're being a homer. THe defense from top to bottom is deplorable and that includes players as well as coaches. but the main area of disaster is and had been in the scouting department. You can not maintain a serious threat to be a top level team when you strike out so often in player evaluation both FA and college.
This team is a mess even if no one wants to admit it. And with the ownership problems my bet is it gets worse before it gets any better.

You're an idiot.
In the 7 games (since his injury) before that abortion yesterday:
71.8% completions (NFL record is 71.2)
358.8 yards/game (record is 342)
17 TDs/5 ints
109.7 Passer Rating
After yesterday, which only an idiot (you) would blame on Brees, that passer rating drops to an exceptional 107.2
Liability

I don't want Payton gone. The odds of finding another HC that is close to what he has provided are very slim. In recent years the talent on the team has significantly dropped off and despite that, the offense has been able to thrive at times with Willie Snead, Ben Watson, Tim Lelito, and old Jahri Evans and Marques Colston getting a ton of snaps. Credit to Payton for changing up the offensive scheme to better suit his personnel.
That being said, he doesn't get a complete pass. He is one of the main reasons for the lack of talent on the team and his inability to get CJ Spiller more involved in gameplans is baffling. Yesterday there was definitely some friction between him and Brees after that failed 4th down in their own territory. Whether that was a display of dissension or just Brees's competitive nature, I don't know, but it is concerning when the franchise QB defies the head coach.
I don't think now is the time to fire Payton, but if another team wants to offer a king's ransom after the season for his services, you have to seriously consider. Looking objectively at the circumstances, the team is generally trending downward. Quality of coaching has dropped, quality of talent has dropped (though the most recent draft class is encouraging), locker room problems persist, character clashes in the coaching staff, ownership struggles, and of course the Vicodin stuff that went really hush hush. Top to bottom there are signs of serious dysfunction that are hurting the team. I would be prepared for another offseason of purging, and this time it might start from the top.

I want him to stay for sure, but want to ensure the structure of the orginazation is such that he's just the coach. I get the feel that he's been in charge of things that aren't his area of expertise (personal, drafts, etc)
