Desean was clocked at 49mph at his combine. Anything under 55mph is considered a red flag. Mahomes threw 60 mph. Let's take him. Kid throws cheddar. I honestly wonder if Drew could hit 45 mph now. I've never noticed Desean having a weak arm, probably because I watch Drew so much

If Mahomes is there at 32 you run to the podium. I'm tired of not being able to throw deep in the middle of the field due to a QB with a weaker arm. Brees used to be able to do it but he just doesn't have the zip anymore and will get picked off more times than not.

Deshon Watson noodle arm

The facts say that he has the weakest QB arm in the 2017 nfl draft by far

He definitely does. I mean that's just kind of a fact. But he still gets it done.

Interesting stats. I wonder what MPH the top 10 NFL QB's have.

I also wonder which lower MPH QB's have had success.

Chad Pennington and Danny Weurfell are perfect examples great College QB's that simply did not have the arm strength to succeed in the NFL

I wonder why that stat isn't used more for QB's like 40 times are used WR/CB/LB/TE/S?

It's not weak. It may not be a cannon but he can make every throw. He's not going to have problems in the NFL.

Chad Pennington was a good QB in the league. Health was his problem. He was always hurt.

Brees was clocked at 52 MPH in 2015, but Brees is a prime example for arm strength not equating to greatness on the field.

Not sure if health was Chads only problem. I remember many Jets fans complaining about his noodle arm and that he struggled with the proverbial 20 yard comeback.

Anyway, I think its a fresh and fantastic topic and wish there were stats on every starting QB's arm strength in MPH.

It was after he tore his rotator cuff TWICE.

From that point on, Pennington was a limited quarterback. Never known for great arm strength to begin with, his throws looked like slow pitch softball tosses the rest of his career. These final memories of Pennington make it easy to forget how great he was before the injuries. I'm not exaggerating when I say he was great before the injuries either.

If that still doesn't convince you, consider what Pennington did after his second torn rotator cuff. He still figured out how to play effectively with an arm hanging by a thread. Even though he could only make a fraction of NFL throws because of the damage to his arm, he still quarterbacked two more teams to the Playoffs and finished second in MVP voting in 2008. Just imagine what would have happened if he had stayed totally healthy.

But as others have pointed out, was he throwing as hard as he could, or as hard as needed for that one throw?

Your link was about an accuracy contest, not about how hard he could throw a football. Not apples to oranges.

Yeah health was not Pennington's only issue. He was a decent quarterback but he quite possibly has the weakest arm the NFL has ever seen.

as hard and as accurate as he can be, would you rather it be 70MPH? Because that's what Cam, Cutler, and Stafford can do on a daily basis. yet they're not very accurate at all.

Yes and Drew is a HOF QB who could make every throw in his prime. He cannot make every throw now. He's still playing at an elite level but he can't make throws he used to be able to make. That's OK, neither can Brady
