Last month the Saints said they would release linebacker Dannell Ellerbe once he was cleared from a foot injury. That has now happened. Ellerbe was cleared and will be released soon, his agent told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. That gives some team with a need for some veteran depth at linebacker an opportunity. Ellerbe is good enough to be a starter on a lot of teams when he’s healthy, but the problem is that he hasn’t been healthy much. He’s missed 32 games in the last three seasons and has never played a 16-game season in his entire career. The 31-year-old Ellerbe can probably help some team, however, and he’s likely to be on a roster this season.

Can we Should We on a player we haven't released yet? Thats that like dividing by 0. The universe might collapse.

Signs with the Falcons and has a game-winning pick-six against the Saints.

What are the odds that Ellerbe is injured by the process of clearing waivers?

I have been wondering how many lingering injuries on the team have been problems with the medical staff? The Saints have signed high profile players that can't seem to stay on the field of play.

The board has called these players poor signings but it may have just been the medical staff and poor treatment that has doomed all of the Saints' signings.

He can't clear waivers. He'd trip over them.

I get the joke here but I did want to point out Ellerbe doesn't go through waivers.

But it definitely sounds like getting cut could hurt.

We shouldn't.

Klein, Te'o, Robertson, and Analzone have made him expendable.

What a waste. Very productive player when he sees the field.

Guy is a damn beast too bad he only played 50% of the time. I do feel pretty good about the LB core though.

He actually only played 33% of the games, and not even that much as he missed parts of games too.
