Damn, you can't double up on names.

I wanted to do Loomis four times.

They inspired a team, brought hope to a city, uplifted a region, and will always be our Saints.

Payton & Brees are must haves. After that, Loomis, Colston, Vilma, McAllister, Roaf and Jackson could take the last two spots.

Rickey Jackson is my first choice, when I was growing up he was my favorite player.

Drew Brees and Willie Roaf.. yup.

Then I'd go with Colston or Sam Mills. Sam Mills was always around the fricking ball man. I guess it was a combo of knowing what play was coming and having guys like Frank Warren help keeping clean from blocks.

Props for having Jim Finks up there. First decent GM of the Saints who started to bring respectability to the franchise.

This myth needs to stop.

Most of the players of those successful late 80's Saints teams were brought in by Bum Phillips (who was GM too).

Bum was a genius at drafting and keeping good players. Finks was a decent GM early on, but got lucky with the USFL players and ran off a LOT of good players, deconstructing the team in the early 90's, and was responsible for starting the horrible period of 13 seasons (1993-2005, inclusive) in which the Saints were pitiful and only made the playoffs ONCE.

The backbone of the successful Saints teams of the late 80's were Bum Phillips GM-era acquired players...

Bobby Hebert
Morten Andersen
Rickey Jackson
Jim Wilks
Eric Martin
Brett Maxie
Frank Warren
Hoby Brenner

Generator list is poop.

While he is far from my favorite player...I think it is a bit offensive to have the drunken Bobby as a Mt. Rushmore Candidate but not Aaron Brooks.

Also while I love Lance and Devery...either being a candidate is pretty absurd.

Also if we are going to have Garrett Hartley and Thomas Morestead as potential candidates then why not Tracy Porter?

This isn't a vote for the HOF. They are two popular players from the best offenses in Saints history. I can understand it.
