Iron Head Heyward is one player I wish I could have seen in action. I was little during his tenure with the Saints, so unfortunately didn't get to witness this amazing player when he was with the Black and Gold. For those of you who are old enough to remember, what are your memories of Iron Head and the kind of player he was for the Saints?

The dude was Bettis 1.0. Amazing to watch someone that big run that well.

This guy was Bettis 2.0. Crazy to see a guy run at that size.

Good FB, a load to bring down, and surprisingly good hands for such a large guy. He was a very upbeat kind of guy as well. Always seemed to have a smile on his face. Sad to see him go at just age 39.

My memory is that he was underutilized.

In Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES players would literally bounce off of him like 20 yards.

Iron Head actually made the Pro Bowl in 1995 as a running back while playing for the Falcons!

He had over 1,000 rush yards that season.

Saints insisted on lining him up as a fullback. He got a lot more carries after he left and did well

he was and will always be one of my favorite players

Two plays I want to see again that I can never find online:

The 73 yd Td run vs the Raiders as a rookie

1992 season Thursday night football vs the falcons bouncing free safety Scott Case off of him like a bug on a windshield.

If I remember correctly from the TP article, he picked it up and asked if she wanted it on her head. I don't think he hit her with it, only threatened. I don't remember the full story of why that took place. I suppose he was hanging out at Morten Andersen's restaurant with Fourcade? If I could get a link to that article that would be great.

There used to always be articles about Mora and the coaching staff trying to get him to stay at a certain weight and were on his arse about losing and maintaining weight while in training camp.

Fast forward several weeks into the regular season and the weekly tv show Saints Sideline does a segment with "Chef Head.". Chef Head invites the tv crew in his home and he starts cooking all his special recipes. He cooked everything in lard. everything he cooked would give someone a heart attack just by looking at it. I could not stop laughing imagining Mora and coaching staff spending all that time keeping his weight in check, and then see that show.
