The same Breaux that had 4 defensive penalties? Whatever you say, chief

Yea, the same Breaux who was playing his first nfl game and settled down very nicely after a rocky 1st quarter

And every coach who has been the best in team history should have until the end of time to try to right the ship

We're 1 year removed from a playoff win

How many did we have before him?

1...

If you were the best at your job 6 years ago, but since have had inconsistent performance, character and drug questions, and a suspension, how long do you think you should get to ride it out?

Its stupid to compare IT Security and data analytics to football. It's his company at this point imo

He's made the playoffs and won a game in 2 of his last 3 seasons...

Payton is a different coach these days and there are many tell tale signs that things aren't going in the right direction. The number of failed high draft picks, the almost constant off the the field problems, the continued colossal failures on massive 2nd contracts are taking its toll on the fan base and the mediocre performances aren't helping. We don't know for a fact who is responsible for the problems, but I have to assume they aren't all attributed to SP.

Let's face it, Payton has gone through a lot over the last few years and maybe he's a little burnt out. The split with the wife, the suspension and being in the middle of the Benson family battle would change anyone...especially someone with an ego as big as Payton's. Is he going to get fired? Not anytime soon. He's earned the right to stay until the wheels completely fall off and that hasn't happened.

I think most rational people don't think after all of our turnover that the defense is going to automatically transform into a defense like the one Arizona has built. Breaux did make a few mistakes being aggressive in coverage, but me, I'll take that kind of effort all day.

I think for the Saints to have success, they need to create turnovers and in this kids first game he is right in the middle of the defense making a big play (along with another new addition) and getting the ball back to the offense on the opponents side of the field.

If you want to get hung up on those 4 penalties, good for you, chief. I saw a young hungry football player that looks to be a good addition to the team I love to root for, chief.

The defense actually played well considering the injuries and youth.

The offense was a failure and deserves all of the blame IMO

Agree with this. Would add game day coaching decisions to the list of contributors.

If that was a one-off occurrence, it wouldn't bother me. It was prevalent all last season and in the playoff loss in 2013. Screens every third play are not gonna work.

The most frustrating thing about NFL coaches is how stubborn they are. Payton isn't going to learn from this.

I agree. Breaux DID look good. A little aggressive, but I'd rather see him that way than being totally out of position all game long like many of his predecessors. He has the talent...just needs a little coaching.
