Christian Hackenberg has the potential to be a franchise QB, replacing Drew the way Young replaced Montana. He also has the potential to be a huge bust. Is he worth the risk? I've read up a lot on him while he was in college and before he lost his offensive line and wide receivers, the kid looked like the real deal. I'm excited about his upside if we could snag him in round 2.

Round 2 seems high for another QB.

We have needs.

Only be open to him if he's available in the 5th and we've already addressed at least 3 or 4 of DT, S, OG, WR and DE in the first 4. Even then idk if I want him. How much better is he really than Grayson?

No. Who's the last good NFL starter that was BAD in college like Hackenberg? He's a 5th or 6th rounder at best.

I'd be more excited about a Guard that could help us protect our HoF QB, a DT that could give us much needed depth, or anyone who can get near the QB

No way, we've got a capable backup in Luke McCown and, in my opinion, Bress' successor in Grayson just sitting back and learning. We don't need to jump at every exciting opportunity, let's just let things develop.

Not to mention the Tulane kid and Matt Flynn as an UFA.

I personally think the best way to get a QB is suck for a year and draft high.

For every Aaron Rodgers successor you have a million guys who's name you don't fricking know, because they never did anything.

Brees and Favre were picks 32, and 33 in their drafts respectively..
Crazy stats that I love... in the past decade of the NFL, a Manning brother has started in 6 of 10 Superbowls and won 4. Over the past 15 years, Tom Brady has played in 6 of 15, and won 4. 8 of 15 Superbowls won by just 3 QBs...

They past 30 Superbowl Winning QBs, and their draft slot

Tom Brady Round: 6 / Pick: 199
Russell Wilson Round: 3 / Pick: 75

Hackenberg sucks at playing QB. He's an overrated recruit who is still living off his recruiting hype.

Think Brady Quinn or Jimmy Clausen just with less talent around him in college so his flaws were exposed earlier.

He SUCKS!

I agree that he sucks. And he blamed his coaches for sucking. Major leadership and accountability issues. No thanks.

Watched quite a few Penn St games and don't understand all the love this guy gets. Yes his OL was bad but he isn't athletic and has very slow feet. Been living off his overrated recruiting tag out of HS.
