D.J. Fluker will not be joining the Chargers in Los Angeles.

Fluker, the Chargers’ 2013 first-round pick, is being released, according to multiple reports.

The Chargers had previously picked up Fluker’s fifth-year option, which means he was due an $8.821 million salary for the 2017. But that salary was not guaranteed, so the Chargers are free to cut him with no repercussions.

Fluker can play both guard and right tackle, and he started all 16 games last season. He’s capable of being a starter somewhere, but the Chargers don’t think he’s worth $8.821 million. Fluker will hope he can find some team that thinks he’s worth at least something close to that.

Fairly legit "should we", I think. Can play both Guard and RT. Nothing special but an upgrade at Guard for sure.

Wouldn't trust him at tackle any further than I could throw him, but he moves people out of the way as a guard and does offer that tackle versatility in a short term emergency situation. New Orleans native as well so he might come here for a little less than going elsewhere. Consistent player from a health standpoint, has started every game of his career

I don't think he's going to get that much but you never know. Someone may overpay because of his versatility and reliability

At around 6 a year or so I'd be happy to have him at guard mauling people.

I'd definitely like him at G at a reasonable rate

Him being available just made the guard market more reasonable.

I'd have to think New Orleans and Atlanta would be the front runners out of that group if the price is right

Fluker is originally from Louisiana too. He was one of the displaced kids from Katrina if I remember correctly.

Wouldn't be opposed to going after him.

With father time creeping up on Drew, he needs to stay upright for one last crack at a SB.

Lot of options for the Saints.....FA, Trade, Draft could be most exciting in a long time!
We have to make all the right moves this offseason if we want to win with Drew again.

apparently quite a history of head banging...

Rotoworld-
Flowers' $9-million salary was set to become guaranteed on Saturday, so it was only a matter of time before he was cut. The move saves $7 million against the cap. Flowers ended last season on injured reserve with a concussion and has a concerning history of brain injuries. The 31-year-old may opt to call it a career.
