Saints taking Treadwell with Rankins still on the board.

Nobody knows where Treadwell is going to go until he runs the 40 at his pro day. It he's slow he may not even be the first WR taken.

Wow, that mock is pretty terrible. That being said, I wouldn't mind Treadwell. We have a lot of needs and a true #1 WR is one of them.

Poor Chad, even in this crappy mock we miss out on Lawson by one pick.

Accidental yup voted the True #1 WR comment. Bree's doesn't need a true #1 and especially as bad as we need defensive help.

Bucky, and Daniel Jeremiah for that matter, always try to drill to their readers/listeners that:

Their top 50 big board is about what they see, and their mocks are about what they hear. Both of them have a lot of connections in the scouting world because they scouted for so many teams, and a lot of their former colleagues are now scouting and personnel directors around the league.

Brooks talked about this mock in their newest podcast (they didn't discuss our pick), and he said that this is no different from the rest: this mock is driven by what he is hearing around the league in scouting circles in post FA. I don't know if it's necessarily an indictment of what is going to happen, but it's worth mentioning that he had us picking Treadwell while driving that narrative.

Bucky, Daniel Jeremiah, and all you other fools must not realize Colston was drafted in the 7th round.

I am fully aware Colston was drafted in the 7th round.

Maybe we should just trade all our early round picks for the entire 7th round. Sounds like a plan.

Come on, dude. Colston was a complete outlier. We can't just ignore the position completely because we got lucky on a 7th round WR a decade ago. He is gone now. We have one WR on the roster who was drafted. Our WR2 is an UDFA who runs a 4.7 and is short. Get a grip.

The worst part about this is, when the offense is struggling next year you same people will show up again and blame playcalling, because the team only calls screens and short passes, despite that being the natural path when you have no physical WRs who can win 1 on 1 against any CB worth a shite.

That's pretty high for an FSU CB. I'm sure it will work out.

But we can ignore the defensive line?

No. It is our biggest need. I agree with that. We need a DT (maybe two) and a DE. We need a guard, or two, as well (though I like Kelemete and even Lelito).

I just think WR is almost as big of a need. It's stupid to just brush it off by saying "Brees makes WRs" ... You can go back to the game threads right now and find tons of people bitching about the offense at certain stages, regardless of where we ranked at the end. They struggled against teams that could defend the middle and up the seam, because our WRs can't win outside ever. They're not physical enough.

Draft is deep with defense, not enough separation between rankins, Lawson, reed, Lee, Robinson, etc... Take Treadwell, secure the WR position with a true #1, use the rest of the picks on defense, there will be a solid defensive pick at 47

All of this is true and it's still not close to as big a need as D-line.

Maybe the only thing this team has been able to do consistently in the SP era is pass the ball, but they have less firepower than they ever have right now. If you take that strength away we're going to bottom out

We bottom out on defense 3 out of every 4 years, can we work on stopping that please?

Sure, use every pick after the 1st round and address defensive needs. But it is a total waste to select a defensive lineman or LB who isn't worthy of the 12th pick. Secure the WR position, then go to the many holes on defense. There's not a dimes difference in the 10 different defensive players we could take at 12 like there is with Treadwell and other WR's in the draft
