I wrote the other day that the Saints may be in a great position at #11 to find a trade partner that would like to move up to grab Watson prior to the Browns pick at #12.

Matt Miller of B/R has spoken to multiple scouts, one general manager and even a prominent trainer who have all been told that the Browns are “enamored” with Clemson QB Deshaun Watson, but wouldn’t use the No. 1 overall pick on him.

Cleveland, of course, has two first-round picks to work with this year. Miller’s sources believe the Browns would like to use their No. 12 overall pick on Watson if he’s still available to them.

The Browns will clearly be in the market for help at quarterback, particularly in the draft where they can get someone to develop under HC Hue Jackson.

Trading back one spot and picking up a 3rd or 4th would be a great move. That being said, it will never work out that way for the Saints. Browns will prob offer and Saints will blow it. No confidence in this front office to execute a great draft.

The only potential candidates picking after 12 to trade up and get him would be the broncos at 20 (depending on how they feel about Lynch) and the Texans. Or in a perfect world for the saints, the browns panic and fear someone is going to beat them to the punch, and trade the 12 pick for the 11 pick and throw in a 4th or 5th rounder

Insane though #42 for the day...What would the compensation value be to trade for both browns 1st round picks? We get 1 11 12 they get what? All of this draft and next draft picks? We get Myles Garrett Reuben foster and a corner

Enamored is grossly over and misused this time of the year.

Why not take Watson? We have needs, yes. But when Drew retires, we will be crap.

Because we'll be crap with Watson when Drew retires if those other needs aren't met

right. but we would get way better compensation from another team than we would with the Browns moving back only 1 spot.

If we got rid of Mickey, we could sign men to fill roles. You dont get free agent franchise QBs. Landing Brees was luck.

Where did I claim that?

With the new rookie contract structure, I want the new QB to be starting on that salary as long as possible

Furthermore, Brees could legitimately be 4 years from retirement

We can sign men now to fill those rolls, but we aren't going to find a great pass rusher in FA either without breaking the bank

We have a chance this offseason to finish the rebuild and have a complete team. Our needs:

Pass rusher
Linebacker
Corner
Guard

We have picks and $30m in cap space to fill those holes.

Garrett at #1 and Watson at #12 would be great for the Browns... they would really help right a lot of past wrongs with that 1st round...

Vilma isn't a franchise QB. Most franchises don't let them go.

Problem is a bunch of teams in the top 11 need QBs. Chances are a trade happens before that, or he is simply drafted by one of said teams

OP was totally implying that another team besides the Browns would want to move up to #11 to pick Watson ahead of the Browns.

Don't discount the Cardinals (OR Redskins depending on what happens with Cousins).
