Im not going to read all that. But i know a few people who "sell" advocare and they literally only do it to consume the goods at a discount. Im not sure they even attempt to sell it. So that skews the numbers pretty heavily.

I wouldn't call it a full blown pyramid scheme...although it has some traits.
At the end of the day they have a product that is reasonably accessible and always available to you. It may not be better than what you get from GNC...but I was never a fan of anything Avon sells and that is more or less the same concept in my opinion.

From what I know, the product is decent, but regardless of the product it still seems like a pyramid scheme.

I have tried some of their stuff before for workouts...I agree it was ok at best definitely not for me.
I ended up just going natural. My preworkout is espresso, my supplements are my daily diet. I try to pack healthy proteins and greens in every meal. Cut back on carbs although I love tortilla, pita, pasta, dough, God bread is delicious lol.

do people really buy stuff just because an athlete reps it?

Jordan's $200 shoes say hello.
Beats by Dre are $200 headphones...repped by pop culture and athletes...headphones.

You are essentially calling door to door salesman which is how I see them as pyramid schemers...
I have always interpreted pyramids to be selling someone on the idea/dream that if they follow a set requirement of steps and work hard they can achieve financial freedom to some kind of capacity through the method/product being presented.
When I bought a few of advocare's products I was just buying through a friend who just wanted me to try/purchase some products to see if I liked them. I didn't like them and stopped buying.
Every experience is different though I guess.

ok, lets assume its mostly a pyramid scheme... so what's the point? Is their a congressional hearing or something coming from it?

Not quite. The whole issue is that you make more money once you have people selling underneath you. My friend signed up through a rep in Mandeville and they required he purchased 3-5k of product. The rep made money of the initial purchase of the goods. More money then what my friend made by selling the products directly to an end user.

How do they require, anyone can go online and freaking become a rep for a nominal fee, sounds like your friend is a dumbass.

It's still a Pyramid Scheme.

i'm not debating that but again, so what... what's the point of bringing up this point?

I see your point. I was speaking strictly as a consumer. I did not look into their operation as far as payouts for sales, commission for signing reps, etc.
My point was simply just because something is a bad or average product doesn't make the product a scam to sell it.
I see what your saying but why would your friend invest money in something he wasn't a 100% sure about before hand? If something seems shady it usually is.
3-5K is a significant investment that could be used in plenty of other ways guaranteed to give you a slightly better return.
I wouldn't even call googling something research but google advo reps or career and plenty of people voice similar concerns and personal experiences of how they lost their investment.

Not even close to what a pyramid scheme is.
It's the same thing almost every store and business in the world does. You buy wholesale and sell resale.
May as well (incorrectly) call every grocery store in the world a pyramid scheme.
