What are the thoughts on re-signing him? Is it worth it, being he only cost 1.5 million last year, to help contribute? Really had high hopes for the guy when he was drafted and always liked him. Got to speak with him after the Pelicans game last night and he really love the organization and hopes to remain a Saint. Gained respect from me just the way he talked about hopefully staying.

If we do, it'll be after the draft I'd imagine, and I'm not sure that would be a great thing.

He came less than that last year. It was league minimum and if we bring him back it will be for league minimum again(same with Haralson and McCown).

I imagine they're waiting to see what position get drafted before seeing what they need to fill out the bottom of the roster to get to 90.

I could see all 3 in camp at least.

Wouldn't be surprised if he came back at minimum during camp, but honestly it seems like the youth movement is in full swing.

Just kinda blahhhh about it. It is what it is. Wouldnt mind if we signed him or let him go.

If we take a WR early in the draft, I think we let him walk. If we take a WR in the mid to late rounds, i think we re-sign him.

Who knows though... If we resign him its because the staff think he can help us, and not just on the field, but off the field as well helping the young WRs getting the playbook and offense down.

I didn't think he'd be on the roster by the end of last season, so that's a pretty good idea of where I stand.

I think you bring back for league min if you don't draft 2 WRs or if guys like Toon and Tanner don't step up. He's a good blocker and has a solid connect with brees. I view him more as a guy you keep in touch with if young guys don't come thru and you need someone serviceable to temporarily fill in. We're trying to and need to get younger, we just don't want to waste a possible championship season in the process. Perfect scenario he doesn't play but you never know how the season shapes out

if we dont sign any veteran WRs, we almost have to bring someone back, imo.

I like Meachem a lot especially if he gets re-signed on a cheap contract. He was in on a lot of game-changing plays(the one vs WASH will forever be in my mind), one of the last remaining members of our superbowl roster, and can still pose as a deep threat along with Stills.

past is the past.
future is where we win more super bowls.
he had better come as cheap as brothers fried chicken for us to CONSIDER resigning him. i do like the idea of "veteran leadership" but I'm not sure if he's worth more than league minimum. I'm sure he is since he knows the system and all that jazz so thats what he banks off of with his value
