Most here will agree that the coaching changes might be the stir that mixes the drink this year. It has been years since there was any specialness to the special teams. I'm particularly excited about the return game. We have some legit competition. Hell, maybe they will get rid of the designated fair catcher like Byrd.

Our 1987 ST was insane. It was like they blocked a kick every other game.

Of course if they could tackle better on punt returns, we might not have gotten our asses whipped so bad against Minnesota.

I don't know anything about the 92 Saints but I'm shocked 07 Bears aren't number 1.

How was the 2007 Bears unit below the 1992 Saints?

The 2007 Bears:
4 PR TDs (14.8 yards per return)
2 KR TDs (18.4 yards per return)
4 blocked FGs
3 blocked punts
1 blocked XP
Gould 31/36 on FGs
Opponents PR Average 5.9 Yds
Opponent KR average 19.3 Yds (allowed 1 TD)

1992 Saints:
0 PR TDs (5.1 yards per return)
0 KR TDs (19.4 yards per return)
Andersen 29/34 on FGs
Opponents PR AVG 7.0 yards
Opponents KR AVG 23.1 yards

According to football outsiders, the 1992 Saints ST unit was the 21st best unit...in 1992.

The 1987 unit was ranked #1 by football outsiders in 1987.
0 PR TDs (11.4 yards per return)
0 KR TDs (20.9 yards per return)

what was so special about the '92 special teams? did they block a ton of kicks or something?
