Best running back after Deuce?

Okay, we all know Deuce McAllister is the greatest running back in Saints history, but who would you say is the 2nd best in Saints history? Dalton Hilliard? Rueben Mayes? Chuck Muncie? George Rogers?
Me, I'm going with my man Dalton Hilliard, he was the real deal at LSU and for the Saints. What do y'all think?

Ingram. He's the next Emmitt Smith

Dalton Hillard probably.

Dang. I was going back and forth between Hilliard and Mayes. Mayes did more in a shorter amount of time, but after his rookie season just dropped off (I don't remember much about that time, so injuries?). Hilliard, other than '88 and '89, his stats are pretty crap.
I guess Hilliard will get the nod being the hometown boy.

The next tier is
Dalton Hilliard
Chuck Muncie
Ricky Williams (no kidding)
George Rogers
(in no particular order)
Pierre Thomas is close--you could argue he belongs in this tier

They're all garbage historically speaking for a franchise so who cares. :D

On pure production it has to be George Rogers. Talent, my vote goes to Chuck Muncie.

Pierre Thomas is very under rated. Since he has always been part of the running back by committee approach SP runs he may not have the stats, but he has been a huge part of the Saints success!

I'd say George Rogers. In 86' Reuben Mayes was legit.

Glancing at the stats, it seems that George Rogers did have one legitimately great season that would have put him as one of the best in the league at his position, at least for that season. I remember hearing a while ago that he was incredibly talented, but a drug problem may have kept him from ever fully living up to his potential.

Just for us and not over their whole career, definitely Hilliard and Thomas. Muncie, Rogers, and Williams did great over a short period with us. I don't think Mayes belongs in either group.

Gotta say Dalton Hilliard... Not that he's in the same category as the rest, but I loved watching this guy and his bullish mouthpiece!

Hilliard for me. Dont forget this guy:

The most pure talented RB I've seen in a Saints uni was G Rodgers.
Muncie would be a close 2nd.
Muncie would be a close 2nd.

Besides the LSU connection, why does everyone love Hilliard so much? He ran for 1,000 yds once and averaged less than 4 ypc for his career. I'm too young to remember seeing him play but does he get the Archie treatment? You know, it wasn't his fault that his numbers sucked, it was the team's.

He wasn't super great but he was a good back for us for 8 years. Some of the other guys were only here half of that.
While Thomas was never a super runner, he was a good do it all back and this will be his 8th year with us.

Comparing it to the PT situation makes me understand it. Looking at PT's numbers as an outsider who doesn't watch him play could never comprehend his value to the Saints.
