Hes not used to having someone pass to him that doesn't have the accuracy of Drew Brees.

Drew is the cat's pajamas of accurate QBs.

I don't think that Graham's issues so far in Seattle are his fault, to be honest. They are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Graham is not a run blocker - the most you could rely on him to do sometimes is chip block while running out for a pass. Where I do think they could fit him in is on roll-out plays with Wilson creating space in coverage with him moving to the outside.
The problem is this, Bevell is a hack that was over-promoted, I doubt he will find as many creative ways to get Jimmy Graham the ball as Payton/Brees did. I don't think Graham will be near as effective until he gets in an offensive system equal to or greater than ours. And Seattle running a very loosely-based college offense is not going to be that. Sorry. The are a ball-control premier back offense that relies heavily on stout defense. It's like LSU ala 2011.
They'll be stuck with a bad free agent acquisition where both parties are not happy and he'll bounce to another (hopefully better) offensive system. That's my bold prediction for Graham and Seattle. They thought they were getting Gronkowski but he's simply not anywhere as complete of a TE as Gronk.

I saw him whiff on several blocks today, good thing he can catch.

I actually watched and focused on him to see if all this is true. He made one decent block and it was a double team. Dropped a pass that was way behind him. Didn't look great. But it's preseason

I think they're putting him in more blocking situations now than they will in the regular season so he can work at that. Let's not jump to conclusions just because of a preseason game

He just doesn't put much effort into blocking. Really starting to believe the soft tag

Unger/Anthony is still looking better than Graham/Lockette. They needed to keep the Oline together a lot more than they needed targets. And we needed Oline help and an actual LB more than we needed targets.
Win/win for us and lose/lose for them.
I love Unger, but we could really use someone like Lockett. That kid is going to be the best return man from day one in the NFL. He is incredible.

Murphy is gold. Watch his clips and...preseason games

Having a great return man is awesome and definitely helps flip field position at times but even the best return men ever never have as much impact on the game as a really good center who plays every offensive snap.
It's like having a great kicker vs. having a good anything else that plays a majority of the snaps. They help but in the end have a much smaller impact on the game as opposed to someone who plays 50+ snaps every game.
Now if Lockette can prove to be a good receiver on top of it the story will be different.

If it wasn't for him being the OC in Minnesota when Favre was there, I doubt he gets the OC job in Seattle. Bevell needs thank Favre for his current job every damn day. That call from 2 yard line in the Super Bowl let's you know all you need to know about his ability to call plays.

Speaking of stud TE's who can block, run great routes & catch, I'm already on the the pain train for this guy in the next draft.
Hunter Henry

No way in hell I'd take Lockett and Graham over Unger and Anthony right now. We needed a mindset change and keeping the status quo was not going to lead this team to success. Yeah sure having those offensive weapons would be nice but we're a much tougher football team making the moves we did.
If anything I'm glad Graham went to a team like Seattle. Imagine him in NE or in Green Bay...that would be absolutely insane.

I don't think that will be a problem at all. He's a damn good WR.

I still rather what the Saints got in Unger & Anthony though. Marcus Murphy also will provide what we need in the return game.

I'm not going to hate on Jimmy after pulling so hard for him, but I love my Saints and when it looks like we made a good trade that makes me glad.
Jimmy had a really rough time when he was a kid, and when individuals have been dumped on badly in life, Its sometimes damn near impossible for them to break that victim mentality. It colors everything they do, and any disagreement or negotiation can turn into a belief that they are once again being bullied.
Jimmy had the PERFECT mentor and friend in Brees; perfect. He threw him open in life as well as on the field; Jimmy will realize that one day. Damn shame.
