Glad we never sniff at drafting guys in our own backyard, but reach on bums like Vacarro, Ingram, Sunseri, and the 50 others I could name.

But I forget, we did draft in the 2nd round one of the worst LSU lineman of recent memory for some reason in Al Woods.

You know there is a difference between all pro and the pro bowl, right?

All Pro teams haven't been announced.

I also like how you think Saints players immediately remove players based on playing their college ball at LSU. It's a given that certain coaches have their favorite schools (Belichick with Rutgers, Arizona with LSU), but I don't think Peyton has a school like that.

I agree that our talent evaluation sucks but let's keep Ingram off the "bums" list. LSU players are probably good value picks because Les never develops their full talent.

I love the mis-information this board has

Woods was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round (123rd overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

Cutting through the crap, this is an excellent point. I don't care if it's LSU or UNO or Southern, but there is a boatload of potential NFL contributors about an hour away from the Superdome. To never tap that pool is ridiculous. Most of those guys were highly rated coming out of high school and quite a few are local products. Why not try to get value from there in the mid to late rounds, or even UDFA.

I hope the Saints draft a colossal bust from LSU so this board can quit on this stupid fricking narrative. I'm tired of reading this retarded opinion. The saints do not intentionally pass on LSU players. There is no bias. You are literally fricking delusional if you actually believe this is true.

OP DOES have a point. It's pretty ridiculous, honestly that the Saints never seem to draft or sign anyone from the school right down the road, which not only produces great players in abundance, but also serves the dual purpose of generating more local interest in the team.

That's ALMOST as ridiculous as the typical knee-jerk response often seen here by Saints fans refuting the sentiment of the OP: that LSU fans are somehow out of line for wanting the Saints to draft/sign LSU players. So what if they do? They're LSU fans. What do you expect?

Yet, here we are with a shallow, talentless roster, for the most part, and the Saints have drafted a grand total of two players from the football factory down the road in the last 15 years. One turned out to be a starting receiver, the other washed out. For perspective, the Saints have drafted as many players from California-Davis as LSU in that time period.

Seriously, it's indefensible. I really do doubt that it's a prejudice against LSU, but more likely it's a failure in the scouting department. LSU doesn't ALWAYS produce the best players, but they produce some pretty darn good ones. If you tell me there's no one that could have been drafted from LSU to help this team in the last five years, over what the Saints actually drafted, you're crazy.

The Saints seem OBSESSED with "project players" and players with injury histories. ALL players need development, but I just don't understand the Stanley Jean-Baptiste picks, the Martez Wilsons of the world (25 career tackles for a 3rd rounder), Andy Alleman, etc...

The Saints don't need LSU players to generate any interest. That's just idiotic.

If only the NFL would let the Saints sign an exclusive deal with LSU allowing the university to be the Saints' own minor league farm team. That would seaux awesome!

I believe you are correct. But you must acknowledge something, too. The result is effectively the same, bias or no bias.

There is a serious lack of LSU players on the Saints roster, particularly as a result of the draft.

If there is no bias, as you say (which I also believe), at least acknowledge the result is the same as if the bias were real!

In that context, what difference does it make? Bias or incompetence, it arouses suspicion regardless.

Most of what you're talking about was addressed with Ireland's hiring and bringing in new staff.

Something that bothers me: how does a talentless team win 5 games? You'd think they'd be 76ers bad with the way some talk.

You're right. The Saints are still popular regardless. But it doesn't hurt. Does it? Tell me that having LSU players on the roster makes no impact at all, and I will tip my hat to you, sir. You know that's not true.

I never said that. Or even implied it. An all-LSU team is idiotic. A no-LSU team is also idiotic, if they're putting more players in the league than almost every other university.
