Did 2016 not count or something? He played three games before he got hurt and he sucked.
2016 AD only had 37 total carries in Pat Shurmer's shotgun heavy offense - and the splits on AD in shotgun vs. QB under center are dramatic and well-documented. The Vikings as a team were dead last in NFL rushing yards (1205) and yards per carry (3.2).
The Saints on other hand, rushed for 500+ more yards (1742) than Vikings, with a full 1.1 better yard per carry (4.3) avg, and are a relatively low NFL shotgun formation team (55%). CSP isn't going to try to square peg into a round hole.

Payton said Peterson was doing single leg, 42" box jumps in the weight room

Number of carries is definitely the best counterargument to this. Peterson hasn't been ran into the ground the way these other backs had been. He should have more gas left in the tanks.
I think we get at least one great (1,200+) season out of him.

Just lol at this OP. "I stand by my comments about AD being a marginal upgrade over Hightower based on the evidence below."
Goes on to list less athletic 32 year old running backs with more wear and tear who went on to have 900-1000 yard seasons.
Hightower did not run for 800 yards lol

Yeah even if Peterson runs for "only" 800 yards it'll still be an improvement over what Hightower gave us.
And some nutzos here wanted Hightower (and KRob before him) to replace Ingram.

I still wish we had signed him and let him go instead of bell. He deserved that ring and he and Brees would have been great together with his versatility in the pass game

Adrian was in Broken Bow this past weekend. He and his buddies or family, whatever, walked in to Moon Tower and drank with the locals. Seemed like a nice enough guy. Bought a round of shots for everyone.
Oh, and he's fricking huge.

I'll ask again: Does anyone think Peterson tops Hightower's rushing total from last season?
Posted on 9/18/17 at 1:52 pm to ghost2most
The way we are on offense. We're not even going to cumulatively get the same as last year.

what dont you like?
Injuries happen
Sean Payton does not emphasize the run
Saints under Payton are not a running team
And after week two: Kamara is stealing a lot of touches.

Well, so far our OL has been dog shite.
I realize we have injuries, but those are a fact of life in the NFL.
