@JeffDuncan_: RT @Bighill44: Happy to announce I'm still with the @Saints on P Squad. Its not about where you start, it's where you finish. #savage #creamris...

Not a fan. Coincidentally was just watching local (NOLA) news sports segment with footage of Texans game...Bighill getting blasted by lead FB and driven about four yards out of the hole.

Well you saw what you wanted to see. I saw a player all over the field and leaving it all out there. You can watch videos of any player in the NFL and see negatives between the good.

Yep, you can watch videos. And you can watch every play of each game, as well, and watch the guy making tackles seven yards downfield after being moved so far out of the hole. But he does make tackles...eventually.

I was going to stay quiet on all the bighill homers but there's a distinct drop in athleticism compared to Klein/Anzalone.

Bighill made all those tackles but a good majority of them were 4+ yards down the field.

Not comparing him to these guys. I'm not even saying he's starting material, but I'd take him over lots of our previous backup LBs. He might have been "tackling 4 yards in the backfield" (unconfirmed) but the bottom line is he made the tackles and didn't miss many. I also saw him sprinting to make sideline tackles. I'd take hustle over lazy talent any day

Same as Colby Bockwalt and Chris Bordano. The coaches obviously see something.

Like Sam Mills before Bigs has to learn to anticipate and know the play and team better than they do because of their size.
He may get better in the NFL given time.

Mike Nolan gave Bighill tons of praise. I'll stick with his opinion. It's about as legitimate as it gets when it comes to the NFL linebacker position

Sam Mills was a force at LB'er despite his size. Bighill is a good lil player, but he's not in Sam Mills class.

Was he behind the startin DL? If or you have to Wonder how that would look. Those tackles 4 yards down the field might turn in to little to no gain.

And obviously was on board with cutting him...I don't buy the idea that Payton would overrule Nolan on who he wanted to keep in his position group. Especially with Nolan being a former NFL head coach.

I agree with this poster who is clearly not related to me in any way.

I have a cousin who's been in the coaching game locally for about 40 years, and I remember during the last years of the Dome Patrol him telling me that the difference between a 4-3 MLB and 3-4 ILBs was that a MLB could be smaller and faster because the four linemen theoretically keep the MLB clean to run sideline to sideline. Most of us know this. The ILBs, on the otherhand, have to be real run-thug thumpers because on every running play one of the two is going to have to take on a guard head up, shed him, and fill the gap. Vaughn Johnson was prototypical, but the real wonder was Mills. In all his years studying the game he couldn't remember another LB his size who could stone the lineman, shed him, and still have enough left to drill the ballcarrier.

Now, we weren't going to ask Bighill to do the things Mills did for us because they're different defenses and different positions in the defenses. But I would respectfully ask that Bighill/Mills comparisons be shelved until and if such time as Bighill shows to have any actual similarities to Mills beyond physical stature. Because the guy doesn't have ANY of Mills' abilities at this point...and he's rapidly approaching 30 years old

Really because it sure in the hell sounded like your comment did? Mills didn't have to anticipate shite because as the other poster pointed out he was strong enough even at that size to physically take on an OLineman and stonewall his arse. That's exactly what the hell I was talking about, I just didn't wanna have to spell it out, but I forget where I'm at, I should have.
