Big difference if it's just the short term IR and he can contribute on the back half of the season

IR to return cuts must be made after final cuts.

Lorig's contract:

Signing bonus: $1 million.

2014: Base salary $750,000, workout bonus $50,000. Salary-cap cost $1.05 million.

2015: Base salary $750,000, workout bonus $50,000. Salary-cap cost $1.05 million.

2016: Base salary $900,000, roster bonus $100,000, workout bonus $50,000. Salary-cap cost $1.3 million.

2017: Base salary $950,000, roster bonus $150,000, workout bonus $50,000. Salary-cap cost $1.4 million.

I have been saying he is garbage for years, so forgive me if I'm not impressed by your call.

Akiem Hicks produced more results as a DE than DT, so we have that going for us too..

Is Tavaris Barnes still on the team? I know the article yesterday said he was pushing for a spot.

Would be awesome if he got it!

As of now, yeah. Nick Underhill (Advocate), one of the best local media guys, has been pretty high on him lately. He was also one of the first ones on the Willie Snead pain train. I'd say Barnes at least has a spot on the Practice Squad, but who knows.

Richardson has had a nice camp for a UDFA, but if we're relying on him for our pass rush, we're in some serious trouble.

Spencer can't be designated to return. There are special rules on it and one of them is they have to be on your roster somewhere right before the season starts or some such. So he is done.

And yeah so glad Lorig is gone but Payton had a huge hard on for him last year so I didn't think he'd have to balls to cut him. Glad he did.

Is the Toon cut official? If so he is also headed to IR or reaching an injury settlement.

Edit:
I see Chad ninja'd me.

I could see him being the one put on IR with the designation to return IF the coaches are still high on him and want to see him practice again before making the decision.

Also would be insurance in case another receiver doesn't live up to their preseason hype.

I think Cooks, SJB, and Sunseri are the only ones left from that class. SJB can save the class if he develops properly. Sunseri is what he is...a ST guy/backup safety with injury issues. He most likely won't be around here for the long haul.

It's Cooks then wasteland. Bad draft becomes even worse since getting cheap usable role players is extra important with our cap issues.

Well he at least started to come on at the end of last year so he has proved he can play in actual games, unlike a certain other training camp star. Sure it ain't the best but we're talking about the inactive on game day fifth spot that only plays if there is an injury. Toon was great in that role last year.
