Tampa tried to interview him last year

I'm sure the minute his contract is up, he's going to run away from the 49ers, regardless of any offer. And don't think other coaches don't see this from the club. It will impact their decision to sign with the 49ers in the future.

Not a fan of this rule.
I don't have a problem with the rule because most teams use it the right way. They understand the spirit of the rule.

Most teams give their position coaches a chance to interview for coordinator jobs. Everybody understands that's a promotion even if the rule doesn't differentiate between the two.

You never know whats being said and what has been promised inside their org to the various coaches. I don't think this hurts them in the short term but Jim will find it hard in the future to look at other teams coaches. Word gets around if your a dick JIM.

Suck it saints

Coaches don't have to sign multi-year contracts if they don't want to.

Would y'all want Ed Donatell over Romeo or Rob Ryan?

Irrelevant. We'd like the opportunity to talk to him to decide that for ourselves.

Well its unfortunate that alot of teams use an opening as "cover" to learn about how other teams operate. Not saying that's going on here, but that might be what Harbaugh is thinking. I know that Harbaugh has Donatell slotted to replace Vic Fangio when he leaves for a HC position.

Sad thing is if he were black, the league would step in and allow him to get interviewed.

Sad thing is you interjecting race into this otherwise fine 49er bashing thread. Totally uncalled for, racist.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned this yet but I think there is still bad blood between Payton & Harbaugh from Saints & 49ers preseason game in 2011.

Remember Payton had Gregg Williams unleash blitz after, after blitz on the 49ers when Harbaugh failed to respond to Payton's gentleman's agreement on how the game would be handled. frick Harbaugh if he's still holding petty grudge because of that.
