No way Verrett lasts till the 3rd or Pryor into the second

No shite. Though Verrett is the only one of the players listed that I would take in the 1st. I would prefer 3rd because of his size, but his coverage ability is top notch. I like Pryor, but I also know we could get Deone Bucannon in the 2nd-3rd round. Who also has beastly potential. Tested better at the combine and was more productive in college, against better competition. I wouldn't even mind drafting Bucannon with the last 1st pick. Plus Pryor might be gone before then anyway.

I think most importantly, you have a history of video tape. I think that really is the most important, the production that this player has had in college. I also think it’s the first time for a lot of us to meet these players. We just finished interviewing a receiver who was outstanding in the room and you can really visualize this player on our team. Those impressions are extremely important.

Who is Payton talking about?

Richardson and Ford should be waaaaayyyyy off the board. Richardson had a bad combine and Ford has injuries.

Todd McShay's latest mock has us taking Morgan Moses at #27.

quote:

Analysis: The Saints have a need at corner, but I think Moses would be a tempting option at this point. Moses has very good size and length, the only question for the Saints is if they view him as a right tackle with Terron Armstead on the left side, as Moses looked a lot more natural at left tackle in 2013 than he did previously at right tackle.

fwiw, he has the Panthers taking WR Kelvin Benjamin with the next pick.

that leaves me at WR...value-wise this year, it may make more sense to wait til later rounds, but I could see the Saints taking Beckham, Benjamin, etc. with the pick.

Would love either after losing moore and sproles

Roby(supposedly 4th Best CB) got owned by Wisconsin's Jared Abbrederis(supposedly 16th Best WR) who had 10 receptions for 207 yards & TD!

Need to look elsewhere at CB....

he's 6 foot and can play anywhere.

You're allowed to have more than 1 fast receiver on the team

Pretty sure it's Brandin Cooks. Think I read where Payton loved what he did at the Combine.

Also, Kiper has a new mock and has us taking Dee Ford. He would have to show out at his Pro Day to warrant that selection after skipping out on the Combine

Yeah it was Cooks. Payton talked to him for like 30 minutes at the combine

A lot of mocks do.. 100% not interested, I'd rather trade back. There are way more than 27 players I like in the first better than Ford, so there has to be someone there for us other than him. This would be a reach.

I'm really not interested in Ealy either..

The media really has no idea what this team needs.. they constantly mock us taking pass rushers and DL

Ford had some kind of a back injury at Auburn I remember.

it forced him to take a medical redshirt. Blowing out a knee is one thing, but I don't know about going all in on a guy in the 1st round whose had some back problems.

just seems a lot more risky???

Newest mock from Charles Davis has ...

LINK

quote:

Pick No. 27
NO
Kyle Fuller CB
Virginia Tech
The big WRs in the NFC South create a need for bigger, talented CBs.

The guys this board seem most interested in for our pick...

C.J Mosley #22 Eagles
Brandin Cooks #21 Packers
OBJ #18 Jets
Dee Ford #24 Bengals (Haven't seen this one before)
Jarvis Landry #28 Panthers (a little odd.. see below)
Jason Verrett #31 Broncos

I like Charles Davis as an analyst but some of the picks he made are a bit odd. But, seeing as the draft never actually goes as the majority thinks it will.. maybe he has a better handle on it than the rest of us. He has the Bucs taking JFF
