15. New Orleans Saints - The Draft's 15th pick arrives with all wide receivers and quarterbacks still on the board, but none of its elite offensive linemen. This likely scenario means that the Saints will wait out all 10 minutes trying desperately to trade down.

A star pass rusher like LSU's Barkevious Mingo is a popular pick and a hometown favorite but if the Saints wanted a fast, light, pass rushing specialist, they have only to look on their roster, where Junior Galette, Martez Wilson and Victor Butler have that niche covered. Mingo is certainly a special player and would even be a great value here at 15, but how much the Saints like their existing set of one-trick pony pass rushers - especially former second round pick Martez Wilson - will determine if Mingo is the pick.

Georgia's Jarvis Jones, on the other hand, would play 3-4 outside linebacker with a different skillset. Jones is a fantastic pass rusher but is also a three-down player, with better experience actually playing linebacker - not just pass rusher. Putting on a Saints jersey would alone make him one of the most athletic linebackers in the Sean Payton era for the Saints, and one with the most promise.

Jones' teammate Alec Ogletree is another consideration, a light, fast linebacker with none of Jones' neck condition baggage but plenty of off-field behavior baggage. Ogletree was used by Georgia as a matchup against tight ends over the middle and excelled there, so he could be a neutralizing weapon against Tony Gonzales, Greg Olsen, Jason Witten, Vernon Davis, and other star tight ends on the Saints' schedule. Ogletree has starting experience at safety help his cause to be a three-down linebacker, though the Saints will have to look long at his off-field questions marks. He's just so fast, so violent, and so natural at linebacker, traits the Saints don't really have at linebacker. Rob Ryan is the sort of defensive coordinator that could talk the usually conservative Saints into picking Ogletree.

The top remaining offensive tackle is Alabama's DJ Fluker, and the Saints will have to decide for themselves if this prototypical right tackle is a fit for their left tackle vacancy. 6'4 5/8", 340 pound Fluker has three years of starting experience at a near-Pro program - but all at right tackle in a run-heavy offense. Does he have enough pass rush quicks to protect Brees' blind side and justify the 15th overall pick? Sure he'd be helpful at right tackle too, but the Saints have a veteran titan of their own there in Zach Strief.

More suited for left tackle would be Menelik Watson, the impressive native of Manchester, England, former Marist baseketballer and Florida State right tackle (for just one season). Watson has all the potential and very little of the seasoning to play in the NFL trenches and is a huge risk. Is he worth picking at #15, with the team low on draft picks, when he could be available in the second round? It isn't like he's going to step in and solve the unsolved left tackle position, what with his twelve games of major college football experience and eight games of junior college football experience to round out his entire American football resume.

We'll stick to our version 5.0 pick and project Georgia LB Alec Ogletree, though a trade down in this scenario seems more likely. Unlike Watson, Ogletree is good value at #15. After trading down and picking up an extra day two pick, OT Menelik Watson begins to make more sense.

here's your handy dandy What To Get You Excited As The Draft Unfolds Guide-

before #15 these all will improve the Saints draft possibilities immensely:

-more than one QB selected
-one or even two guards selected
-more than one CB selected
-any WRs, the more the better
-any RB at all

Some of those converge and it could be a perfect storm- Jones, Mingo, Lotulelei, Richardson, all on the board and the phone ringing with trade offers.

I can see the possibility of multiple QBs, CBs, or WRs take before 15 but I don't see that with RBs and Guards.

Couple of really good guards though. They could go high. Lot of shite offensive lines out there.

I meant more along the lines of teams reaching. But yeah you're right about the couple of guards going early.

Apparently Fluker to Arizona is getting some buzz. Could make Lane Johnson a little more gettable than expected. Even if not, that would drop another good option. If Geno Smith and EJ Manuel (getting linked to Bills) go ahead of us + Fluker to Arizona, we could see a Floyd or Lotulelei available at 15, especially if Mingo goes to the Jets.

Great post, only thing Martez was a third round pick, 72 overall.

PICK NO.
1

LUKE JOECKEL OTTEXAS A&M
Joeckel edges out Eric Fisher for the No. 1 spot because of the superior level of competition the Texas A&M product faced in college.
PICK NO.
2

ERIC FISHER OTCENTRAL MICHIGAN
The Jaguars need to protect their quarterback, no matter who it is.
PICK NO.
3

SHARRIF FLOYD DTFLORIDA
Oakland takes the best defensive player in the 2013 NFL Draft.
PICK NO.
4

LANE JOHNSON OTOKLAHOMA
Both of the Eagles' starting offensive tackles are coming off surgery.
PICK NO.
5

ZIGGY ANSAH DEBYU
The Lions' staff coached him in the Senior Bowl, where he put on an impressive showing.
PICK NO.
6

DEE MILLINER CBALABAMA
Milliner represents a logical bookend to emerging star CB Joe Haden, but do the Browns see Geno Smith as the next Cam Newton?
PICK NO.
7

DION JORDAN DEOREGON
The Cardinals really need a pass rusher off the edge.
PICK NO.
8

CHANCE WARMACK OGALABAMA
I still believe Ryan Nassib ends up as their quarterback somehow.
PICK NO.
9

BARKEVIOUS MINGO DELSU
Rex Ryan will love Mingo's athletic ability.
PICK NO.
10

STAR LOTULELEI DTUTAH
Tennessee takes the best defensive lineman left on the board.
PICK NO.
11

JONATHAN COOPER OGNORTH CAROLINA
The Chargers must do a better job protecting Philip Rivers.
PICK NO.
12

XAVIER RHODES CBFLORIDA ST.
Rhodes or rapidly rising Desmond Trufant? The Florida State product is rated higher on most boards.
PICK NO.
13

SHELDON RICHARDSON DTMISSOURI
Tampa Bay might go cornerback, but Richardson is an upgrade over Roy Miller, who just departed in free agency.
PICK NO.
14

D.J. FLUKER OTALABAMA
The top defensive tackles are gone, but new GM Dave Gettleman stays big, filling a need at right tackle.
PICK NO.
15

JARVIS JONES OLBGEORGIA
While he hasn't tested well in the pre-draft process, Jones is the best pass-rushing OLB on tape.

Walter Football changes theirs

New Orleans Saints: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
Sheldon Richardson is a steal if he falls this far, but it's sounding like he'll be available in the early teens. In fact, it's been speculated that the 49ers could leap the Saints and obtain him at No. 14.

If Richardson makes it to New Orleans, it's an easy pick. He'd be a massive upgrade over Will Smith at defensive end. Smith is a poor fit in the Saints' new 3-4 scheme.

*** OTHER 2013 NFL DRAFT POSSIBILITIES: ***

1. Xavier Rhodes, CB - The Saints made a nice signing with Pittsburgh's Keenan Lewis, but they still showed interest in upgrading the other cornerback position when they brought in Nnamdi Asomugha and Tracy Porter.

2. Barkevious Mingo or Jarvis Jones, DE/OLB - Pass-rushing option for the Saints' new 3-4.

3. Kenny Vaccaro, S - Another way New Orleans can upgrade its poor secondary.

Question, why would the Saints want another inside linebacker?
Are there talks of letting go Vilma or Loftin? Or is it because of Vilma is getting on up there in age?

highly doubtful myself that it could be Ogletree. Now if they trade back that would change exponentially with where the pick is. If they did, don't think it would be for need but just on value grade. I won't be shocked if Vilma doesn't make it through camp tho. He's hitting the rapid pace of deterioration stage.

Take it with a grain of salt but there are some sources saying Alec Ogletree will be top-10

Give me trade backs or give me death!

But yeah, we're starting to see a lot more Ogletree projections. I'd be ok with it, but I think we have other spots of greater need.

yeah, I'd love to have him but we need help more on the lines of scrimmage in my opinion.

I'm mainly worried about ILB because Vilma has had knee problems the last few years. The depth there isn't as good as it appears to me. Plus, the Saints don't have a rangy LB who can cover well against the pass.

as much as I've knighted for the guy on here, I'd be shocked if we took him at #15.

Mark Fields was the last Saints linebacker picked in the first round in 1995. I think its safe to say we won't be going that route on Thursday evening

McShay - D.J. Fluker - (OT-Bama)

This dudes an idiot. He was on ESPN earlier and said he heard a lot of people moving them up their draft board and he's probably one of the better run blockers in the draft and he can be a solid RT and could fill in at LT.

WTF?!?!

We need a LT, not a RT.
We are a passing team, McShay.
I still think Fluker is better suited as an OG.
