1.) McCown was nothing short of outstanding. He showed complete control over the offense and fitted some nice passes only where his guys could catch them.

2.) Kelemete had a solid performance. I truly believe he can hold his own and should no longer be a backup.

3.) As good as Ingram ran last season he just hasn't been able to get it going. Robinson just seems to make something out of nothing and almost always breaks the 1st and 2nd tackles. He needs more touches.

4.) Snead needs more touches. The guy isn't afraid of the moment.

5.) As good of a kid and speedster as Cooks is he just isn't a #1 WR that they want him to be.

6.) Pass rush. We need to find it somewhere. With how long Newton had to throw it's even more impressive how Breaux's coverage has continued to improve. Browner not so much.

7.) Speaking of CB's....again Swann will be a fine nickelback. Not sure if he would be able to hold his own on the outside but if Browner continues his woes it's worth a shot.

8.) Anthony is playing well in run defense but he was hesitant a few times in coverage yesterday and just appeared to lose Olsen. This will get fixed as the season goes along and he gets more reps and film study.

9.) Marcus Murphy. Great redemption from the muffed punt to take the next one to the house. Showed he doesn't let one bad moment affect his play. He also came close on one kickoff but Webb upended him. If it wasn't for Webb I believe he would've scored on that one as well.

10.) Going forward this team will be scary. They have a young defense who has 3 starters coming back soon in Lewis, Ellerbe, and Byrd. On offense we need an athletic TE and true playmaker #1 on the outside to team with Cooks and Snead. I'm not sold that this team is going back into the dark days pre-Payton. They're closer than some think. Never lose the faith brothers and as always

I agree about the defense. Although you didn't praise Breaux.

Agree about Klem.

Snead had a major drop right in his hands, but he does have some potential as a wr3 I think.

Cooks needs a compliment. We need big possession reciever.

Murphy had the big run, he also had the muffed punt and he took one out the end zone for no reason. Lacks discipline.

Last game, I definitely agree. But yesterday Robinson was abysmal. I hope we can get some consistency with at least one of our RBs going forward.

define scary?

Team that could upset some of the better teams in the league on a given week and mess up their playoff position?

2009 was a scary team, 2011 was a REALLY scary team. Nothing about this current group would be considered scary without multiple significant upgrades, which can be said for half of the league. If all of the qualifiers for "scary" are met then they will be an average to above average team.

I thought he meant in future seasons.

Ireland did well in the last draft.

These rookies are learning, Allen is doing well helping them along, and if Ireland continues to bring in depth and quality, then after this rebuilding year and next year we might look back and realize we've be back on an upswing, we have been on a downturn for 4 years now.

We were spoiled with talent and genius from 06-11 and then gutted by sanctions and bullshite.

We're finally rebuilding. We were in a sort of we can still do this funk after the bounty nonsense. This last off season we took solid steps in the right direction. I hope it continues. It's going to be fun to watch, at least for me. I like watching rookies play and the team rebuild. I like actually change on the team and position battles and in depth player discussion.

This is a tad too sunshine pumper for me.

On offense, the team will need a true #1 receiver, a starting caliber TE, and two guards. We can find at least three of these in the draft but it's no guarantee they will pan out or they will take time to develop.

On defense, we will need anther OLB, probably a safety (not sure what will become of Byrd or Vaccaro), and PASS RUSH.

And we will probably get a new defensive coordinator as well.

We have a lot to do to get this team back to being a contender.

We're rebuilding for sure. I think Ireland is a good scout. He's a pretty horrible gm from what I've witnessed first hand down here. He has a great eye for front seven talent. I really hope that Brees agrees to a drastically reduced contract extension to help get us out of cap purgatory if we want to have a legit crack at something again. I actually think that rebuilding is much more fun than being barely a contender hanging on. Rebuilding leads to everyone being rejuvenated and drops the dead wood of complacency.

McCown was really good, but the gameplan was also super specific and now teams have a game's worth of tape to use in scheming to counter that plan. Maybe he's really good again next week (if Brees doesn't play) but who knows.

Agree that Robinson is obviously the better back after contact but there are defenders in the backfield on almost every running play. I don't know if it's the blocking or the playcalling letting them know we're coming, but it's pretty bad. Again, Robinson seems to do better after contact but it's hard to blame Ingram for getting stuffed when his first contact is happening behind the LOS.

Other than that I think I think I agree with you

Our Dline, more than anything, needs some nasty DTs more than outside rushers. Cam was getting doubled all game yesterday because our worthless arse DTs can't get any push. Nkemdiche would be so amazing... I hope John Jenkins is gone come next year. BUM is the best word to describe him so far.

I think without a special teams TD this game doesn't look as positive as I had hoped

Isn't the plan to give the job to Dennis Allen? If so, that will help with continuity... we won't be 100% starting over again.

The Saints haven't been scary since 2011.
