Who wins in head to head matchup?? Wwl has been asking all morning. I believe this team 2011 would win by a touchdown. 38-31.
This year is a lot harder road to superbowl. But we are playing best ball by far and have a great chance!!! What y'all think

nothing would/could rival 09's team on the emotional side. I saw old men crying after the Minn game (Sheraton Hotel on Canal) and I still tear up thinking about SB44-

that being said...I have never seen an offense that it this good- I mean, maybe the Jr/Sr year of Tebow but- never in the pro...everytime we get the ball, I just know we will score.

So for that reason i think '11 is a better team

09 defense is far superior to 11, and 11 offense is just slightly better than 09....

far superior??

I'll give you we were way more oppurtunistic in 09' on d,

but we did struggle in quite a few games that year

As far as 09 or 11. The 09 team won our first superbowl in the most emotionally charged season I've ever seen a football team have. The quarter that night was amazing.

I'd take 11 offense and 09 defense.

'09 - 26 INT's, 13 Fmbls, 8 TD's
'11 - 9 IMT's, 7 Fbls, 3 TD's

39 turn overs >>>>>> 16

Like I said, far superior. I never said our '09 D was great, but it goes to show just how bad our '11 one is. Plus our '09 D played very well when it counted... playoffs and SB.

I disagree with that. I think they're way better all around.

Graham > Shockey

Sproles > Bush

2011 Brees > 2009 Brees

2011 O-line > 2009 O-line

The only thing I would give the '09 team an edge on is the forced turnovers.

Also, even though they still won the SB, I like the way this team finished over the '09.

you're right. I won't argue that they were far superior in the turnover department.

But overall it looks like the same D in many ways.
plus I feel the 11' D has stepped it up as of late.

11>09. We needed missed FGs and timely turnovers to win a LOT of games that year.

This year, we flat dominated the second half of the season. We stomped some dicks in the dirt.

This team is peaking at the right time, not skidding in to the playoffs. Key word: team

in sum: 11>>>09.

'09 WR's >>> '11 WR's
.... yes they were the same bunch, but this year as well as last they have not gotten seperation and performed as well. Devery and Meachem have been virtual non-factors.

I wouldn't say Brees is any worse or better now than he was then. He's the same great QB. Yes he broke a record, but that is because....

'09 Running game > than '11. Brees wasn't throwing as much, because our run game was much more consistent. This is more a product of playcalling consistency rather than personell. With the Carolina game aside, we run the ball too inconsistently this year. The ypc numbers are a bit skewed by this, because teams can give a shite less about defending our run; we rarely run twice in a row. '09 we were 7th in league for attempts/game, this year 20th. The run pass ratio in '09 was 46% run/ 54% pass; whereas, the R/P this year is 39%/61%.

The problem in a matchup like this is that an opportunistic defense ('09) will create the turnovers necessary to put a predictable offense away. Basically, it would be a repeat of the '09 SB, but the '11 saints would be playing the role of the '09 Colts.

ETA: on paper I believe this team to be more talented overall, but the Eagles say that doesn't mean shite. For whatever reason, this year's team isn't producing the way it should be on defense, and the coaches aren't running as consistent as they should.

But it's a good point someone brought up somewhere that we have held opponents to under 20 points since the bye week. If that's the case, then there's more praise that should be given to the D than I am currently giving. However, I have been majorly dissapointed in our turnover ratio this year.

'11. Better team. Even with a similar record, you can see how the Saints have had more decisive victories this season.

09>>>>>11 because they have a ring. When that changes I might rethink it but it isn't even a debate till then.
