Other options for non-shortened nicknames:

Dive Bombers

Gulf Coasters

I'm sorry your preferred nickname is fricking stupid and sounds like a semi-pro softball league team name Jester

You'll get over it

1. Squad (Squadron by definition is a group of Pelicans)
2. Pels
3. P-Cans

This may be crazy, but I'm going to call them the Pelicans and neither Pels nor Pellies.

Benson named 'em Pelicans....I'ma call 'em Pelicans.

Watch out, boys, Captain fricktard has spoken.

I will cringe a little every time I hear someone say Pels or Pellies. They are and will always be terrible. That will never change.

I just really like Simmons

I have like 150 pages of his book left actually. Awesome read.

I don't see how any real Pelicans fan can make this statement. frick Bill Simmons and his little white pygmy pony he shacks up with at night.

if you are basing that off his basketball book, then that's fine. but if you're basing it off his recent stuff, then no. he's basically turned into rick reilly. complete sellout.

he knows a lot about old pop culture references and the history of basketball. he was a great writer 10 years ago. he's not relevant anymore. he knows no more, and possibly less, than nearly all national NBA writers

Don't forget his childish outbursts after his dream trade of CP3 to Kobeville didn't happen

he's a basketball fan with a way to nationally voice his opinion. what he says holds no more weight than me or you, yet he REALLY believes it does. it's kinda funny, honestly. his little feud with Doc was probably one of the funniest things i've seen in a while

I missed that. After the CP3 bullshite, I refuse to read anything he has written. Not going to justify his continued relevance.

He was a good writer at one point, but he allowed himself to be convinced that he was the smartest, bestest NBA fan in the history of the multiverse. The result:

I think that good bit of the people who use the Warriors nickname actually shorten it into 2 syllables -- "War-yers".
This might be just in the South, but thought I'd bring up the point nonetheless.

I definitely mentioned that when we were discussing the rebrand. I think the vast majority of Americans basically pronounce it with 2 syllables.

If you disagree, say it out loud. Make sure you use 3 syllables:

Come out and playay.
