1. Draft Jabari

2. Trade Gordon for Gallo

Which do you choose? I know neither are realistic.

Drafting Jabari adds a young, talented SF to the roster on a rookie salary. Could turn out to be a star, and is supposedly the most NBA ready of this years draft.

Gordon for Gallo shaves ~ $4 million and replaces Gordon with a big SF who can score and defend. Probably gives us enough space to sign a free agent with cap space, plus another serviceable player with MLE.

obvious answer
Gordon and Jabari is better than Gallo
I'm not a fan of Gordon, but he is a good player, just can't close games.

Easy answer for me.

Gallo just had reconstructive ACL surgery in January, so who knows when he'll be ready to play again.

I think you obviously draft Parker. I personally don't think the Pelicans are in as bad of a situation as others do though.

You could do both, that's not even an issue.

If you had to pick one though, you'd go with parker. let him develop through through his rookie contract and by the time you re-sign him, him and AD will be close to their prime bad contracts off the books.

Any one who picks #2 is just wrong. This isn't even an opinion.

Why would you need to shave $4 million off?

If you really want to save $4 Mil then you just let Aminu walk after the season since you would have Parker.

I'd go with Jabari.

Gallo's lost an entire season to a knee injury and there's no telling how long it will take for him to get back to where he was late last season, if he ever gets there again.

Given all the problems we've had with Gordon and injuries, I'd rather take the young, unproven kid than the guy who may be a shell of his former self.

Jrue, Evans, Gordon, Ryno, Davis, Rivers will take up $53 million in space. If the NBA cap is still around $58 million, shaving $4 million would be put you at $49 million with Jrue, Evans, Ryno, Davis, Rivers, and Gallo before filling out the roster with minimum contracts. Would give you around $9 million (vs. $5 million) to grab someone like Hawes or Gortat in free agency, and you could still use your MLE on a $5 million contract.

Potentially two different rosters.

Jrue
Gordon, Evans
Jabari
Davis, Ryno
MLE, Ajinca, Withey

or

Jrue
Evans
Gallo, MLE
Davis, Ryno
Hawes/Gortat

If Gallinari wasn't coming off a major knee injury, 2 would be very tempting. But in this scenario, 1 is obvious.

Ill take Jabari. But, like others have said, if it wasnt for Gallo knee injury it would be very tempting. Especially when you think of the roster.

But I would still rather have Jabari. I dont think itll take him too long before he becomes better than Gallo. Gallos best season was last year and he averaged 16ppg, 5 rebs, and 2.5 assists while shooting 41.8% from FG and 37.3% from 3.

Would rather have Gordon and Jabari instead of Gallo.

Jabari has Melo like potential and Galinari is a rock solid starter when he isn't coming off knee surgery. Jabari would be on a rookie deal and Galinari has a nice hefty salary.

I think everyone is interpreting my post as Jabari vs. Gallinari. I see it as Gordon, Jabari vs. Gallinari, $9 million to sign a center (Hawes/Gortat).

Obviously I would rather have Jabari over Gallinari, especially after his recent surgery. But it basically comes down to:

Jrue, Jackson
Evans, Rivers
Gallo, MLE 3
Davis, Anderson
Hawes or Gortat, Withey

Vs.

Jrue, Jackson
Gordon, Rivers
Jabari, Evans
Davis, Anderson
MLE 5, Withey

Neither would be a bad situation to be in, obviously.

By no means would I be against Galo. Just Parker has star potential. If we could pull off the Gordon for Galo trade without it costing us Parker I'd be all over it.

Potential =/= will be. He is a scorer who plays similar. Also I'm not exactly a big name exclaiming this, I don't think it will set up too much disappointment lol.

Hes a mismatch on the offensive end like Melo. Where he can score from the block and from deep. Has a thick build to him as well. But Melo wasnt thick in college like he is now.

But I think his similar to Paul Pierce. Reminds me a lot of him when you watch him play. Smooth, looks like hes slow and not using a lot of energy, but hes dominating people.

well, if we are capable of drafting Parker, then that means we are picking in the top 3, which means we would have won the lottery again and we would be keeping our pick.
