The Suns were a run and gun team, and were known for a particular set that they ran, Fist Up Short. It starts with the point guard and either big in a high pick-and-roll, the other big shifting from the strong side block to the other block as the ballscreen is happening. The wing players are based in the corner and the weakside wing relocates from the corner to the above the break three to take the weakside help away. The play puts the low big man defender in a bind, do you take the roller and leave your man or let the roller go?

Good stuff in there. His time w/ Griffin/Jordan should be helpful, though Griffin is a superior ball handler/passer to both Cousins and Davis.

One thing that will be tricky that I've seen from others is that neither Davis nor Cousins are much dive guys anymore. Both prefer to pick and pop. Maybe that's b/c of spacing reasons or realizing they can't take a beating when they are their teams. But they will need to dive more often on screens

It will be interesting. Do think expectations should be tempered a bit for the rest of this season. It will probably take time to figure it out for players and coaches- that said we should be able to see what Gentry is trying to do and can judge accordingly. But I think it can work offensively

I think they will stagger them a lot this season. It will take a while to gel and figure out how to best use the two together. There are only 25 games left this season and they really want to get the 8th seed.

I see Pels always having one of them on the floor. Letting Boogie dominate 2nd units as much as possible. They will start learning how to play together this season, but then take the off-season to really work on maximizing Boogie-AD together.

I would play them together as much as I could. but always having at least one of Holiday, Boogie, and AD on the floor at all times.

I just don't think they can afford the growing pains that comes with that especially out of the gate. As Gentry said, we don't have a lot of margin of error. That is particularly true with games against the Rockets, Thunder, Spurs, Jazz, and Raptors coming up in the next 2 weeks.

Yeah, when they have the chemistry to be making those high low passes like are in the video clips then maybe you maximize their minutes together, but to start having Boogie scoring 12 points in 5 minutes vs. scrubs will do. You still start him, but definitely stagger.

I suspect DMo will continue to get a good amount of minutes at the beginning, he has been a hell of a passer as well.

Yeah in the playoffs I imagine you play them together big minutes, but early on I think they will definitely stagger a lot.

Start them, Demarcus out on the first sub, goes back in when AD goes out. Goes out when AD goes back in, then finish the half together.

Blake griffin is no where near cousins as a passer.

Boogie averages 4.9 assists per game.

Edit: my bad, griffin is def a pretty good passer. 5 assists is good, he has def improved.

Agree. I see the argument for playing them together as much as possible right off the bat. But I would stagger them at this point- the rest of the roster isnt there to have them both sit at the same time

Griffin has consistently been a better passer and facilitator over the years. Not a knock on Cousins- Griffin is probably the best creating big in the league (though Jokic is coming).

The point is that running Cousins/Davis PnR might not be as easy as it was with Griffin/Jordan. Same time, Jordan doesnt have the range or floor game of Davis/Cousins. So there are options
