Why do people think we are going to dump EG?

What kind of package are people imagining in their mind that they think this would happen? I can't comprehend this as an option even, but I hear it a lot.

Ran all the numbers and a Gordon or Rivers trade has to be in the works to allow us to absorb Asik. Just no other way from what I see.

I think people are honestly selling EG short and still focusing way too much on his injuries and the whole Phoenix ordeal.
The guy wasn't his best this season, but outside of being a bit overpaid is still a legitimate player and with another year to heal up from his injuries may be back even better.
Guy played in 64 games with many of the games missed at the end of the season where the team shut him down even though he could've played. In those games he averaged the following per 36 (playing 32 minutes per game):
17.3 points per 36
2.9 rebounds per 36
3.7 assists per 36
1.3 steals per 36
2.4 turnovers per 36
on
43.6% shooting
39.1% 3 point shooting
Overall, he simply wasn't as bad as some want to believe and I think he'll be better next season. Health will be his main issue and this season was definitely an improvement.

My problem is that he looks like he just does not care when things are not going right, and his defense on fast breaks is horrible.

Yaa...I know he's a good player but it's just a matter of his production being a MAX player and his commitment to the Pelicans Organization.

He's not complete worthless trash, he's just worth about half as much as he's paid.
If he was making <8 mil/year it wouldn't be so terrible.

No, we're focusing on how his salary clogs the cap and keeps us from improving the roster. Give me Rivers and about $15 million in cap space over Gordon and the MLE.
