Who gets the Hornets history?

I see a lot of people saying we would keep the NOLA part of the history and Charlotte would get the rest. I disagree. Charlotte just rebranded. They did not get the franchise back. I am thinking we would keep all the history. Thoughts?

Does it really matter? Why is it so important to you? It's not like the Hornets and their history is worth fighting for. Is a couple 2nd second round exits in their history that important to you?

They should get the Charlotte Hornets history including Phills we should get the New Orleans Hornets history. It'd be pretty dumb to see the FDB 07 banner in Charlotte.

Absolutely correct. No connection between the two franchises or their histories.

History remains with franchise, not the city.

The old-Browns left all that was in Cleveland when they relocated, a turtle leaving an old shell for a new one. When the expansion turtle was created, it just used the shell that was left.
That did not happen in 2002.
History is owned by the NBA, and teams can use it to make money. The question is who gets to use the tool.
If MJ wants to be able to use, he'll have to ask the NBA. The Heat have Jordan's jersey in the rafters. The Hornets had Pete's jersey up. Anything can be done.
This who has the history stuff is an oversimplified take on the issues.

This is how it should be. Nobody thinks of Charlotte when they think of the Chris Paul Hornets. And nobody thinks of New Orleans when they think of the Larry Johnson Hornets. This makes the most sense.

We'll keep the history of New Orleans (Jazz & Hornets) basketball not the team name itself.

The history (including that of the Charlotte hornets) stays with new orleans. This was all said over the past 11 years

Does this mean we never wear the 02/08 era Hornets jerseys as throwbacks?

We should be able to. Its part of our history, just like Charlotte has to wear bobcats as their throwback.

Anyone else mad that we won't be able to wear sweet Hornet's throwback gear in 20 years or so. Now I really do have to throw all my Hornets gear out.
