plays a position the team is loaded
Jason Smith means Anderson is expendable?
is one of the highest paid bench players in the league.
He's a bench player the way Ginobili is and Harden was on OKC. He's playing 30+ mpg if healthy.
dominates the ball
Has to on this team
can't play with the 3rd guy
Maybe. More that he can't beat bigger defenders- Demare Carroll ate him up in the 4th last night.
You deal Vasquez now not because he can't play. But because his value is at it's peak, he probably isn't the long term answer at pg, and he is the best available asset other than cap space on the roster. Even then, you don't ship him out for a bag of basketballs.
Actually a great player, but is massively injury prone and is way overpaid
True so far.
Plus now it is out in the open that he doesn't get along with management..
Meh. Coaches and players get into arguments fairly often. We'll see what happens, but it's a stretch to say they don't get along because they had an argument on the sideline during a game at the end of a miserable season.
I'd love to hear how you would improve it
Dangle Lopez, Vasquez, and cap space as trade bait for a team looking to dump salary. Need wing and ball handling help.
See what the market is for Gordon.
Draft BPA- hopefully Noel or Porter reach the Pelicans. Try and get back into the end of the first round of the draft- buy a pick, deal someone- and get more help on a rookie deal.
Look at guys mid tier guys in FA. The big splash is most likely coming via trade. FA will be for depth and complements.
If they do go after a big fish, they need to keep the salary movable. The team won't be competing for much more than a playoff spot over the next 2 years: don't blow the load on a quick fix because it aint happening unless LeBron is coming to town.
