Just wishful thinking, but imagine if there was realignment in the League and we ended up in the East. Same could be said for Memphis and Minnesota, too, geographically speaking. Where do you think we would sit at the end of the year?

I think we could possibly end up as the 3rd seed.

1 - Boston/Cleveland
2 - Cleveland/Boston
3 - PELS
4 - Washington
5 - Toronto
6 - 8 = Irrelevant

Memphis and Minnesota would easily get in as well if they were in the East. I would peg Minnesota for the 4 seed right after us.

Definitely top 5 imo.

Possibly Top 4.

With Gentry as coach? 9th.

3-4 sounds about right.

Toronto will backslide a bit so the question would be if Washington is better or not. We have the better bigs but they have the better guards.

Even if Washington beat us out for the 3 seed, I think we beat them come Playoff time. Our bigs would be too much to handle. I think we are built well for the playoffs, even in the West, because of our bigs. The problem is just getting to the playoffs in the loaded West.

If they are fully healthy, probably 3rd, if they have average health, still top 6.

Lol just a realistic Pel. I love the supporting the team like everyone here, but I don't trust our knuckle headed coach to get anywhere near the best out of our squad.

4. Cleveland
5. Washington
6. New Orleans
7. Miami
8. Toronto

New Orleans is a .500 team and that would put them about 6 or 7 in the East.

Not sure which part you disagree with. I mainly just pulled the win projections that came out the other day (LINK ) and tweaked them a bit. Raw numbers would have barely put the Pelicans 5th over the Hornets, 44.2 vs 44.1. But I'm really big on what the Hornets did this offseason and think they are going to make a bigger leap. Nothing else is really that outrageous. Everybody expects the Cavs to tumble, especially after they trade Irving. But I still think they stay in the top 4..

Both of those are upgrades (replacing Sessions and Hibbert) and you forgot Malik Monk. Hornets are going to be really good. Injuries got them last year, they were 3-17 in the 20 games Zeller missed. If they just go .500 in those games, they are the 5th seed. They will be even better this year and are loaded with youth. With the Bulls, Pacers, Hawks and even Toronto taking steps back, the Hornets can easily grab a top 4 seed..

If the Pels were in the East you can't use those projections, their schedule would be different. For ex. They play Detroit twice this year and probably will sweep them. In the East they play them 4x that's potentially 2 more wins... now you add Knicks, Nets, etc and you see why they would be better than .500. Not to mention they would only play Spurs and Rockets twice, so you eliminate at least 4 losses right there.

Agree that they upgraded themselves.
But second spot in the East is too high for them.

As to Monk. He is a rookie. You dont know how much he will contribute in year 1.
I can see Bobnets as 5-6th in the East. At best.
Worse than Pels
