What would you give up to get rid of Asik's contract?

Just curious from afar what it would take for the Pelicans to unload Asik's contract (or what you personally would be willing to include to get rid of the guy)? Or do you want to keep him?

The 2nd round picks. For sure.

I hate his contract, but that's more about it's fit with the team long term than it's value around the league. With the cap escalation over the next 2 years, I don't think it's crazy to think you can give him away like the Spurs did with Splitter in 2017, so you shouldn't pay anything to move him this year, and he also can be useful for the next year or 2. Short of some sort of Tyreke and Asik to Brooklyn trade, you keep him for now and try and move him later once AD can either shoulder more of the load at center or some cheaper options become available, like actually using a draft pick on a center.

I would give up Tyreke to move him for an expiring and some small asset. Use the room to go for Batum, Barnes, or Bazemore. Not interested in just giving up picks to ditch his contract.

As a Blazer fan, Batum would be a great fit with AD on pick and rolls and defensively.

The Blazers and the 76ers (barely) are the only two teams that could absorb his contract completely without getting anything in return. I don't know if the Blazers would do it for anything less than a 1st rounder in 2016 (maybe top 3 protected) thrown in as well given there is still a lot of money left on Asik's deal after this season and I don't even know if they would do that.

Combining Asik and Tyreke would put whatever team got them on the hook for over 20 million next season and most likely eat a good portion or all of the cap space this summer. Is Tyreke worth that trade off for other teams?

The Nets are interested in winning this season and reportedly would take on long term salary to do it. Tyreke and Asik for Joe Johnson and filler would be the type of move the Pels would make if they were smart and decided to strip the roster down. We are not trading a 1st to dump Asik.

Brooklyn might do it

Tyreke+Asik for Johnson+filler

They don't own their pick and have no guards worth a frick right now.

ETA: would gladly throw in a 2nd that we got for ish

That trade seems pretty fair for both sides, except personally taking on Asik for 4 more years instead of just letting Johnson walk isn't something I would do if I was the Nets without more compensation.

Remember its the nets

They've made shittier trades than that

Asik can easily be stretched or moved in 2 years

Ha ha ha, true! I really don't know how King has his job still. He gave the Blazers a 1st round pick for a washed up Gerald Wallace (that pick ended up being Damian Lillard) and then re-signed Wallace to a terrible 4 year, 40 million contract that off season.

Actually that sounds eerily similar to the Asik trade except the pick didn't end up being near as high and Asik should still be in his prime age wise.

Uh oh! The Blazers will gladly take your 2016 1st round pick unprotected Dell!

Well Billy King just got reassigned today so who knows if the Nets will make dumb trades anymore. It would be tough for any GM to clean up that mess considering they have very little assets and draft picks.

I still think they'd do Tyeke and Asik for Joe Johnson if we offered. It's more talent than they could likely get on their own with the same money, and both fit deficiencies in their roster.
