Depends on injuries, but yeah. Sure.

My question is how much did his 1 year as an assistant at Golden State change your opinion of him?

Injuries are no excuse.

Not an excuse, unless AD is out a significant amount of time. Monty won 45 games with an injury riddled team, and he's a shite coach

If AD is out for the entire year?

Kind of an important stipulation. But outside of AD having a serious injury, yes, anything less than 50ish wins would be a disappointment. And that 50ish wins should be fighting for more than the 8 seed.

Well his year at GS solidified most people's opinions of him as an offensive guru. His system and style of play is succesful in this day of NBA.

So yeah I'd be happy with Gentry because of the system he brings.

Yep

You tell a guy he needs to make the playoffs and fire him anyway, saying you want somebody that can "take you to the next level." Cool. But I need wins NOW, then. Lots of them. I need to wake up tomorrow morning and see that we're already 2-0.

No leash, no excuses, no on the job training. Gentry's 60 years old, he should know it all, by now.

50 wins and fighting for a sixth seed was what was expected next season prior to Monty getting fired. The expectations have completely changed. We still have to see what roster moves are made but this coaching change needs to bring significant improvement in the win column. Steve Kerr's hiring did that for Golden State. Some people seem convinced that was mainly because of Gentry's presence. We will soon find out.
